Lorrha GAA News for 29 May

Special Meeting: At a meeting last Saturday night, it was decided that the new development will be named after our Millennium goalkeeper Tony Reddan. Work on the extension is progressing well and it is hoped to have it in operation by late autumn.

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,650 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Senior: The seniors took on J.K. Brackens in the senior league on Tuesday evening. News next week. Our next game in the North Senior Championship against Templederry has been confirmed for Saturday, 5 June in Toomevara at 6pm. Our final group game against Borris-Ileigh will take place the following Saturday, 12 June in Nenagh @ 7.30pm.

Junior: The juniors disappointing league campaign came to an end on Thursday with a 5-10 to 1-7 defeat to Burgess. With the championship beginning in three weeks, we are asking all players that have only trained sporadically or have yet to appear to attend training in the coming weeks ahead of the championship.

U14: The Co U14 ‘C’ semi-final against the West champions will take place on the weekend of 5-7 June.

U12: Well done to the Under 12’s who had a superb 6-3 to 0-2 win over Ballinahinch in the first round of the championship last Thursday evening. Next up is a home game v Roscrea ‘B’ in Moatfield on this Saturday @ 12 noon.

Tipperary v Cork: A draw for the remainder of the tickets will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday, 26 May @ 9pm. All those whose membership is outstanding must pay Registrar Tadhg Nevin this week as only members will be issued with tickets.

Golf Classic: This years Lorrha GAA Golf classic will take place once again in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 25 June. More details next week.

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Martina Houlihan 087-9138248.

Tipp Draw: Thanks to all those who joined the Tipperary Draw for 2010/2011. Your support is greatly appreciated. The club had no winner from the first draw held on Friday last.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Patrick Maher and the Tipperary Senior & Interemediate hurling teams in the championship this Sunday.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of J&S Sound. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
