Lorrha GAA News for 3 March

Senior: Lorrha begin their County League Division 2 campaign this Sunday when we host Newport in Moatfield at 12.00pm.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels play Inane Rovers in the semi-final of the North Minor 'A' Football Championship in Roscrea this Saturday, 3rd March at 12.00pm.

Under 14: Lorrha played Kiladangan on Monday evening in the Feile 'B' Hurling quarter final in Puckane and won 1-12 to 0-2. Lorrha play Newport in Newport in the semi-final this Saturday, 3rd March at 3.00pm

Under 10: Hurling training will start in Moatfield this evening, Wednesday 28th February from 6.30 to 7.30pm. Please bring runners, helmets and hurleys. All children born in 2008 and 2009 are welcome.

Membership: for 2018 is now due. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date for all adult and juvenile players is 28th February while the closing date for all membership is 31st March. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.locallotto.ie.

A membership registration night will take place in Moatfield on Monday 12th March from 8-9.30pm.

Scór na bPáistí: Well done to the representatives from the Club who took part in the North Semi Finals in Portroe on Sunday. Quiz Team: Cian Hayes, Liam Donoghue, Clodagh Kennedy and Rachel Cleary and Novelty Act: “Redwood Nursing Home”: Dermot Houlihan, Kate Houlihan, Niamh Patterson, Jason Houlihan, Sophie Houlihan, Leanne Sullivan and Ben Hough.

The Quiz team progress to the North 'A' Final on Sunday 4th March in Newport and the Novelty Act to the North 'B' Final on Friday 9th March in Borrisoleigh. Best of luck to both teams.

Poker Classic: The annual Lorrha GAA Poker Classic takes place in the GAA Centre on Saturday 10th March at 9.00pm. Entry free is €20 with €1500 pro rata prize money.

First Aid Course: The club have organised a First Aid Course on Thursday 15th March in the GAA Centre. We need 12 people to take part. Cost €10 per head. Anyone interested to contact Louise Mannion 0876598387.

Healthy Club Project: The club is delighted to announce that it has been chosen as one of 92 clubs nationally to take part in phase 3 of the GAA's Healthy Club project. In the coming year, we will be planning events to promote healthy living in the club and community.

Third Level: Well done to Brian Hogan who was part of the NUI Maynooth panel who won the Ryan Cup (Third level 'B' competition) in Mallow last Saturday. Ken Hogan (coach) and Cian Hogan (selector) were also part of the management.

Tipperary: Patrick Maher skippered Tipperary on Sunday for the first time in their National League game against Kilkenny. Brian Hogan and Eoin McIntyre were amongst the subs.

Inter-Divisional: Dan Needham and Kevin Cahalan were part of the North Tipperary panel on Saturday in the Under 15 inter-divisional cup final against West Tipp
