Lorrha GAA News for 31 July

Lotto:Our jackpot reached a recordhigh of €20,000 this week. Thanksto everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source offundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growingby the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.iewhere it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.  

 

Senior: Lorrhatake on Ballybacon/Grange in the first round of the O’Riain Cup at The Ragg onthis Sunday @ 6.30pm. 

 

Junior: Thejunior suffered a heavy 4-17 to 2-9 defeat to Toomevara in the fourth round ofthe championship in Borrisokane on Saturday. We now have to win our final groupgame against Nenagh Éire Óg on the weekend 6-8 August to progress to thequarter finals.

 

U21: The U21‘A’ semi-final against Kilruane MacDonagh’s has been provisionally fixed forWednesday, 4 August in Borrisokane.

 

Minor Hurling: The minors recorded their fourth win in as many games with a hard-earned3-14 to 1-10 win over Newport in Moatfield last Tuesday. There is a three weekbreak to our next game is away to Portroe on Thursday, 12 August.

 

U16: TheU16’s began their championship campaign with a superb 1-13 to 2-8 win overKilruane MacDonaghs in Cloughjordan on Friday evening. They were beaten 3-18 to 1-10 by Toomevara in their second game on Monday evening. Their third game comes this Monday, 2 August vKildangan in Puckane @ 7pm. 

 

U14: Best ofluck to the Under 14’s when the take on Shannon Rovers Gaels in the Northsemi-final ion Saturday, 7 August.

 

Inter-county: Best of luck to Ken Hogan (manager) and Patrick Maher & CiaranHaugh as well as the rest of the Tipperary Under 21 hurling team in Wednesday’sfinal against Clare in Thurles. 

Well Done to Patrick Maher and the Tipperary team on their superb All Ireland Quarter Final win over Galway. Hard Luck to John McIntyre and Galway after a fabulous game.

 

Cúl Camp: Well done to the 88 boys and girls who took part in this years CúlCamp in Moatfield last week. Thanks to all the instructors lead by Len Gaynorwho imparted their knowledge of hurling and camogie to our future stars.

 

Parish GolfOuting: This years Lorrha Parish Golf Outing takesplace in Portumna Golf Club on Saturday, 28 August. This years President isMichael Liffey while Captain is Eugene Kennedy. More details in the comingweeks.

 

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of MidnightMelodies. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

 

Sympathy: LorrhaGAA Club would like to sympathise with the Guilfoyle family on the death ofMartin Guilfoyle who died last week. May he rest in peace.
