Lorrha GAA News for 5 June

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,800 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Senior: The seniors took on J.K. Brackens in the senior league on Tuesday evening and earned a creditable draw, Lorrha 2-16 J.K. Brackens 3-13. It’s back to the North Senior Championship this weekend where we need to win against Templederry to remain in contention. The game is on Saturday, 5 June in Toomevara at 6pm.

Junior: With the championship beginning in three weeks, we are asking all players that have only trained sporadically or have yet to appear to attend training in the coming weeks ahead of the championship with Templederry our first opponents on the second or third weekend in June.

U14: The Co U14 ‘C’ semi-final against the West champions will take place on the weekend of 5-7 June.
They begin their hurling championship campaign against Shannon Rovers Gaels in Moatfield on Thursday evening @ 6.30pm.

U12: The Under 12’s were given a walkover by Roscrea ‘B’ on Saturday. Next up is against Nenagh Éire Óg ‘B’ in Nenagh on this Saturday in Nenagh @ 12noon.

North Tipp U14: Well done to Brian Hogan who played a starring role from centre forward on the North Tipperary team which won the Peader Cummins tournament on Saturday.

Golf Classic: This years Lorrha GAA Golf Classic will take place in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 25 June. Time sheet is with Michael Liffey (087-2578370) or Tony Coen (087-6219639).

Inter-county: Hard luck to Patrick Maher and the Tipperary team last Sunday. Well done to John McIntyre on managing Galway to victory over Wexford on Saturday last.

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Martina Houlihan 087-9138248.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Pat & Ritchie. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Kinsella family, Fadden on the recent passing of Peter Hogan. May he rest in peace.
