Lorrha GAA News for 6 March

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week for the €16,550 jackpot were: 2 – 13 – 23 – 25. No Winner. The Lucky Dips were: Kitty Maher, Sarah O’Donoghue, Joe Cleary, Marie Sullivan and Brendan Ryan. The Winning Promoters were: Madeleine Maher, Tony Coen and Margaret Gleeson.
Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week.

U21 Football: Lorrha received a walkover from Nenagh Éire Óg in the second round on Saturday. Lorrha travel to Borris-Ileigh this weekend needing to win to book a place in the final. Check fixtures for date and time.

Hogan Cup: The Lorrha senior hurlers bowed out of the Hogan Cup, losing 1-15 to 2-10 to Borris-Ileigh in Moatfield on Sunday afternoon. Next up is the first round of the county league in 2-3 weeks.

Membership: Membership is now available and the rates are unchanged for 2010. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All membership is payable to club registrar Tadhg Nevin, Glenbower, Rathcabbin, Roscrea. New GAA rules mean the closing date for membership is 31 March. A reminder that only fully paid-up members can enter the draw for Tipperary tickets later in the summer.

Indoor Hurling: Training for U8’s continues in Lorrha Hall on Friday night at 7pm sharp. Indoor hurling for U10’s begins at 8pm.

U12 & 14 Training: U12 & 14 football training gets underway this Friday evening in Moatfield @ 6.30pm. All players to attend. All players must have their membership paid before the championship starts.

U16: will play in ‘A’ hurling and football in 2010. The football begins on Monday, 22 March with a home game against Ballina. Kilruane MacDonaghs are also in the group.

U14: will play in ‘C’ hurling and football in 2010. The football begins on Wednesday, 24 March with a home game against Newport/Ballianhinch. Shannon Rovers are also in the group.

U12: will play ‘C’ hurling and football in 2010. The football begins on Friday, 26 March with a home game against Shannon Rovers. Portroe, Templederry and Ballinahinch are also in the group.

Club Shorts: An order is being put together for a new batch of club crested shorts. Shorts are €17 each and orders must be with Shane Brophy by Wednesday, 10 March.

Scór: Scór na Paistí North Semi Finals on Friday March 5th in Silvermines & Portroe

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Kennedy family, Kilregane on the death of Willie Kennedy who died last week. May he rest in peace.
