Lorrha GAA News for 8 August

November 8, 2018

Lotto: Our jackpot is now €5,400. Thank you for your continued support. You can play our lotto online at www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Senior: Our championship campaign is in limbo as we await the progress of Killenaule and Eire Og Annacarty in their divisional championships. Killenaule will play Mullinahone in the South final while Eire Og Annacarty will play Knockavilla Kickhams in the West final. If one or both is successful, we will progress to the last 16, which won't be played until late August at the earliest.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha are away to Shannon Rovers this Sunday, 9th August, at 12 noon in the third round of the Junior 'B' Championship. The following Friday, 14th August, we are away to Ballina at 7pm.

Minor: The minor hurlers recorded their third win of the championship with a 3-11 to 0-18 victory over Moneygall/Clonakenny in an exciting game in Moatfield last Wednesday with the goals coming from Niall McIntyre, Tony Needham and Alan O'Meara. The win keeps Lorrha in the hunt for the semi-finals with one game to go, away to Silvermines on Wednesday, 12th August at 7pm.

Under 16: Lorrha/Shannon Rovers defeated Borrisokane 4-11 to 1-17 last Monday week. There is no game last Monday with the team returning to action against Portroe on Monday, 10th August at 7pm in Moatfield.

Under 14: Lorrha/Shannon Rovers will play Newport Gaels in the North 'B' semi-final in Moatfield on Wednesday, 12th August at 7.00pm.

Under 12: The Under 12's exited the championship last Friday evening following a narrow 3-3 to 2-3 defeat to Ballina in the North 'B' Championship quarter final. Commiserations to the players and mentors on their efforts.

All Ireland Semi-Final Tickets: Orders for All Ireland semi-final tickets on 16th August through the club have closed. Tickets can still be purchased through www.tickets.ie, Centra or SuperValu.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We ask all promoters to bring their accounts up to date ahead of the August draw.

Tipperary: Hard luck to Caoimhe Kennedy and the Tipperary senior camogie team on their All Ireland quarter final loss to Cork.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Pat & Ritchie. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Duggan family, Nenagh, on the death of Denis Duggan, formerly of The Ferry, who passed away last week. May he rest in peace.
