LUCAN SARSFIELDS’ CLUB NOTES MONDAY September 10th 2012
Well done to Seanie McClelland, Eogan O’Conghaile and the Dublin Minor Hurlers on their All-Ireland Final draw with Tipperary on Sunday. Our annual Family Funday has been set for Saturday 15th September. We are still looking for donations of bottles, bags, dvds ect for the stalls. All can be left behind the bar or in the wheelie bin inside the front door of the clubhouse. We also need volunteers to help on the day. The response from some of the juvenile teams has been very poor. There are certain coaches in the juvenile section that put in upto 20 hours a week coaching and behind the scenes. All we are asking of parents is that they give us 1 hour of their time on the Funday to help fundraise for their childs future in the club. Plese text Lisa 086 3774887 to volunteer. Club members were shocked this week to hear of the untimely death of Stephen Foran. Stephen, as the manager of the Lucan SPA Hotel, was very generous to the Club down through the years. Many’s the time he came to our rescue in organising events, and always with a smile, an obliging manner and a willingness to pitch in and help out. He was a huge contributor to the special relationship between the SPA and Lucan Sarsfields. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Stephen’s family and with Gerry and Frank Colgan and their staff at this very sad time. The Senior Hurling Team and Management would like to thank Alice Whyte, Pat O’Keeffe, Kathleen Roche, Seamus Clandillon, Peggy Smith, Katie O’Neill and Cathy O’Neill for all their help in organising the Scrambled Egg and Porridge Breakfast in the Clubhouse Bar on the morning of our trip to North Antrim to play a challenge match against the All Ireland Club Champions Loughgiel Shamrocks recently. We are inviting local businesses and traders to get involved in sponsoring the Lotto, as a very good way to promote their business while also supporting the Club. Rates range from €60 for 1 week up to €200 for 6 weeks. The Sponsor’s name is highlighted on the Lotto tickets as well as the weekly Result sheets, the weekly Club Notes in the Lucan Newsletter, The Lucan Gazette, The Liffey Champion, The Lucan Echo, Tuesday’s Evening Herald Club Notes, Liffey Sound FM and the Clubs own website and email circulations to members.
