LUCAN SARSFIELDS’ CLUB NOTES MONDAY April 28th 2014

Many thanks to all the Teams who sent in match reports this weekend.  Full details can be found on our website www.lucansarsfields.ie over 650 players in action last weekend across all 4 codes from age 7 to 40+!

Congratulations to our U14 Camogie Feile Teams who had great performances at the weekend.  Our Div 1 Team were unbeaten throughout the weekend and were convincing winners over Good Council in the Final to bring back the Div 1 Title to Lucan once again.  In the Adult Camogie section Lucan fielded four teams last week recorded three good wins while our Division Two side was very unlucky to lose by a single point.  Tuesday night is Camogie night with 3 Adult teams in action.

Our Adult Hurling Teams had solid performances in the last week with our Senior and Intermediate Teams drawing their matches with Ballinteer and Faughs respectively.  Our Juniors had a convincing win on Sunday morning.

 

This week the Championship action switches to football.  Our Junior A team are on the senior pitch on Tuesday at 730pm, Junior B’s same venue on Thursday and are Intermediates are away to Brigid’s on Friday at 7pm. Our Senior Team are in league action on  Wednesday at 7pm in Erins Isle.

 

Best of luck to Emmet O’Conghaile and the Dublin U21 footballers in the All-Ireland Final on Saturday.

 

On the juvenile front the hurling go games on Saturday morning saw excellent performances from our U8s and 9 with our U10s taking home the honors against Ballyboden and Round Towers.  Both our U13 football teams had wins over St Vincents and Na Fianna, the U14s also recoded victories over Naomh Mearnog and Good Council.  Our U15s and U16s also won their games.  Best of luck to our U14 football teams who are in Feile action this weekend.

Results from Golf Society’s first outing at Knockanalley Golf Club saw Gabriel Larkin take the first prize with 42pts, Brain Mahon was second with 35pts.  Category honors were handed out to Brendan Keane, Robbie Breen and Jim Kinsella.

 

25 Card Drive every Friday night at 9pm in the Clubhouse Bar – all welcome. €5 entry with €50 1st prize.

 

It is Strictly Sarsfields week. Expect glamour, fancy footwork and lots of laughs at the Lucan Sarsfields fundraising event in Westmanstown on Sat May 3rd.  Tickets are on sale now from Alice or Kathleen.  Many thanks to all those who have supported the Fun Raisers.  There has been a great atmosphere around the club for the last 2 weeks.  The Legs a Lavin fun Bingo night takes place in the Club this Tuesday in aid of Joe Lavin.  The big day on May 3rd gets underway with a Duck race in aid of Stiofan’s fund

Our Lucan District Credit Union Academy continues every Saturday from 1.30pm at the Clubhouse.  New players are always welcome and registration is just €10 for both Hurling and Football.  This is your chance to participate in a training session led by Dublin Hurling Captain Johnny McCaffrey.  Each week over 150 boys and girls practice their skills and improve their overall physical well being in a safe and controlled environment on our purpose built all weather facility.  Check out our website for more details.

 

There was no winner of Sunday night’s €10,500  Lotto. The unlucky numbers were 5, 6, 7, 26. This weeks lotto is for a jackpot of  €11,000 sponsored by John Ryan Accountant and Mary Flannery is in charge of proceedings.
