Mayo Gaels were defeated by Shrule-Glencorrib in the second round of the Division 1F League played in Abbey Park Saturday evening (27th April).
In a lively first half both teams missed easy scoring opportunities and the Gaels, despite dominating possession for long periods in the half, were unfortunate not to be more than one point ahead at half time (0.03 to 0.02).
The second half was similar to the first half in that both teams spurning good scoring chances and the Gaels were well in contention (0.07 to 0.05) as the game entered the final quarter. An unanswered 2.03 in the final five minutes, from a younger Shrule-Glencorrib team however killed off any chances a battling but tiring Gaels team had of taking their first points in the League.
The Juniors next outing is away to Kilfian on Saturday the 4th of May.
