MFC: Myshall 1-9 Clonmore 0-10

November 8, 2018

The Minors put in a battling performance against a strong Naomh Eoin team and could well have won but missed four goal chances that would have made all the difference. The players could not be faulted for going for goal in those situations but in hindsight, they would have been wiser to take their points.

Myshall got off to a flying start with 1-1 on the board before Clonmore scored but Shane McGrath, Adam Byrne and three cracking points from Dale McNamara brought us right back into it at half-time – 1-3 to 0-5. Myshall pulled away to lead by 1-7 to 0-5 on 40mins but Clonmore fought back well to reduce the arrears with points from Adam, Gary, Jordan Walsh, and two Mark A Byrne frees. Had either of the late goal chances that fell to Dale and Shane gone in we could have won, but the goalkeeper saved well on both occasions. Despite this loss the lads can be proud of their performance especially the heart they showed towards the end and they can still reach the semi-finals.
