Moydow Harpers Vs Grattan Og in Division 2 - Match Report

November 7, 2018

Grattan Og  3-11                               Moydow Harpers  0-07

As has been the case in Division 2 for much of the season, Moydow Harpers came up against a stronger team in Grattans on Sunday last.

Again, missing the services of a number of last season’s regulars, the Harpers always seemed to be chasing the game and the inability to convert chances in front of goal led to their demise.

Grattans led from the start with a point followed by a fortunate goal where a mis-hit shot somehow found the back of the Harpers net.  The Harpers eventually registered their first point with a free from Paul Stuart.

At this stage, the main difference in the sides was the ability to use the ball constructively.  Moydow did manage a further 2 scores, however they wasted several opportunities where further scores were there for the taking. At the other end of the pitch, Grattans were economical in front of goal adding a further 3 points with limited possession.

Half-time: Grattan Og  1-04          Moydow Harpers 0-03

Moydow started the second half on top but again failed to convert possession into scores. Following an initial period of Harpers dominance, Grattans began to stretch ahead and scored 1-04 without reply, which put the game out of reach.

To their credit, the Harpers never gave up and staged a mini comeback with good points from Niall Keenan, Mark Quinn (2) and Cathal Hilliard.

However, this was too little too late with Grattans adding further scores to leave the result beyond doubt.

Moydow Harpers: Brendan Conway, Chad Costello, Gerard Farrell, Tom Hobin, Shane Connell, David Tiernan, Luke Costello, Fergal Keenan, Niall Keenan (0-01), Conor Keenan, Cathal Hilliard (0-02), Mark Quinn (0-02),  Gerard Slevin, Paul Stuart (0-02), Darren Madden
