Moydow Harpers Vs Grattan Og - Junior Championship

November 7, 2018

Moydow Harpers 1-13   Grattan Og 0-02

Moydow Harpers got off to a great start in the 2015 Junior Football Championship with a convincing win over near rivals Grattan Og in wet and windy Moydow on Sunday last.

Back in the Junior Championship following a brief sojourn in the Intermediate championship, Moydow started as firm favourites for this local derby.  The Harpers started in dominant fashion but in difficult conditions, failed to convert their superiority into scores. Grattan Og tried hard in defence and cut out a number of Harpers attacks.

Moydow eventually gained composure and with Keelan Dowd, Paul Stuart, Mark Quinn & Sean Farrell on form, they built up a comfortable lead going into half-time. In addition, the Harpers backs looked very solid and kept the visitors scoreless in the first 30 minutes.

Half Time:            Moydow Harpers 0-07   Grattan Og          0-00

The second half started with continued dominance by the home side, stretching the lead by a further 3 scores. Following the early dominance, however, Grattan Og came back into the game and started to win more possession around the field. The Moydow backs again were resolute during this period of the game and were unfortunate to concede a number of dubious frees in front of goal.

Moydow regrouped following a couple of Grattan Og scores and finished strong with further scores from Mark Quinn, Paul Stuart and a well taken goal by Gerard Slevin.
