Moydow Harpers Vs Shroid Slashers in Reserve League 3 -Match Report

November 7, 2018

Shroid Slashers                 1-04       Moydow Harpers             2-09

Moydow Harpers qualified for the Reserve League Semi Final with an excellent performance against old rivals Shroid Slashers on Saturday evening at Shroid Park. In wet and windy conditions, the Harpers always looked dangerous and the margin could have been greater with a little more accuracy in front of goal.

The Harpers started against a stiff breeze and took a little time to register their first score. This came against the run of play when Conor Keenan was picked out and raced through to blast the ball over the bar. Further points followed from Mark Quinn before Gerald ‘The Slab’ Slevin floated the ball into the top corner for his second goal in 2 games. Shroid had some chances during the first period but they were generally snuffed out by the Harpers defence. Shroid were given a life-line just before half-time when they were awarded a dubious penalty which they duly converted.

Half-time: Shroid Slashers            1-02       Moydow Harpers             1-06

The Harpers started the second half strongly and never looked like relinquishing their lead. The lead was extended by a ‘standard issue’ goal from veteran Colin Clyne and further points from top scorer Mark Quinn (7 points in all) and Gerard Slevin. At this stage, Moydow were in complete control around the park, but wasteful shooting kept the score respectable.
