Moylagh lose out to neighbours

November 7, 2018

Moylaghs attacking limitations once again came back to haunt them in this exciting local derby on Tuesday evening in Moylagh. Oldcastle started brightly and were 2 points to 1 up after 10 minutes. Moylagh settled and started to dominate around the middle and went in level at half time 4 apiece, the home side having passed up 2 goal opportunities with both Joe Melia and Sean martin opting for points.

The second half started with Moylagh again winning plenty of possession and both sides exchanged points before the game turned on a soft goal for Oldcastle when goalie Declan Traynor hesitated on a hopping ball and full forward Nicky Galligan beat him to fist it to the net. Worse was to follow soon after when awkward midfielder Colm Fanning s hand pass was blocked down in the Moylagh halfback line for Alan McCann to score a second soft goal. Moylagh battled on gamely but ran out of ideas as Oldcastle sat back and could only manage a miserable 8 points for their 60 minutes of toil.

This defeat moves Moylagh closer to relegation while Oldcastle march on towards a league final place.
