Murphy Relishing New Role

November 8, 2018

Nathan Murphy is relishing his new role as a left-winger, as he prepares for a fifth straight season at Oriel Park.

The 19-year-old joined the Youth setup in August 2008 and made his first-team debut just over 12 months later. Since then, he has made a total of 64 senior appearances, all but one of which have come at left-back.

However, new boss Seán McCaffrey has re-signed Murphy as a winger, and the former Saint Dominic’s and Belvedere youngster believes he has “a lot to give” in his new position.

“I’m over the moon to have signed back,” Nathan told dundalkfc.com.

“It has taken a while, but I’m delighted that it’s done and dusted now, and I can’t wait for pre-season to start.

“My first preference was to sign back here again. I loved playing here last year.

“It didn’t go as well as I wanted it to, but hopefully this season can be a good one for us.

“I’m delighted with Seán, Darius (Kierans) and John (Whyte), everyone that has come into the club. They’re all great coaches, so hopefully I’ll improve a lot this year.”
