The minor team had a convincing win over Listowel in the County Minor Division 2 semi final and now they will play John Mitchels in the final, date to be decided. Rathmore 0-12 Kerins O Rahillys 2-08

 The seniors got suffered their first defeat in the second round of the County League in Rathbeg on Saturday evening.

Kerins O Rahillys raced into a 6 point lead within the first 10 minutes. Barry John Keane led the way with a goal and a point and 2 further points coming from John O’Connor. Rathmore got off the mark with two points from Michael O’ Riordan but Rahillys got their 2nd goal when Rory Molloy reacted the fastest when a shot came off the cross bar, to finish it to the net. Rahillys’ goalkeeper David Hennessy saved a penalty from John Buckley mid way through the half. Paul Reen, Donal O’ Sullivan and Michael O’ Riordan all pointed for Rathmore but Rahillys responded with points from Declan Quill and David Flaherty. Rathmore finished the half with points from Michael O’ Riordan and Donal O’ Sullivan to leave the half time score Rathmore 0-07 Kerins O’ Rahillys 2-05.

Rathmore dominated the second half but their shooting in front of goal wasn’t good enough to get anything from the game. Declan Quill got three points in the half, one from a free and two from play and Barry John Walsh got their other point of the half. The Rathmore scores came from Paul Reen, Aidan O’ Mahony and three from Michael O’ Riordan, two from frees.

Towards the end of the half Aidan O’ Mahony received his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card and in a separate incident Rahillys’ Rory Molloy received a red from two yellow cards as well. Game referee Connie Carroll.

Well Done to Padraic McCarthy, Mark Reen and John Moynihan who all played in the Kerry minor’s victory over Tipperary in the Munster Championship.
