Offaly Minor Footballers Advance to Semi-final

November 8, 2018

Offaly minor footballers came from behind in injury-time to defeat Meath in the Leinster Championship quarter-final.

Offaly were trailing by 1-8 to 1-7 with time almost up but captain Noel Andrew Graham levelled the scores and then Stephen Hannon floated over the winning point with almost the last score of the game.

It was a fantastic result by Offaly who were 1-2 to 0-0 down after less than ten minutes. Offaly missed some chances from frees and trailed 1-4 to 0-3 at half time.

But Offaly refused to give up and played superbly in the second half. A Barry Cushen goal brought them right back into the game and in a nerve-wrecking closing period, the Faithful County lads squeezed through.
