Olafs Beat Ballyboden

November 8, 2018

Our senior hurling team had a very good week in the championship. On Tuesday night they were held to a draw by Commercials on a score of 0-13 to 1-10. Olafs were completely on top in this match and Commercials sored a goal from a free with the last puck of the game to earn themselves an undeserved draw.

On Fiday night Olafs produced their best performance so far this season when the senior hurlers had a fantastic victory over one of the favourites for the Championship Ballyboden St Endas. The score ended up 3-13 to 1-15.  Boden started as if they were going to over run Olafs when they raced into a 5 point lead in the first quarter of the game , but Olafs hit back with a goal from Ray Quinn and three points which had Ballyboden reeling. At half time Olafs led by one point. At the start of the second half Boden threw everything they had at Olafs but our defence stood strong and conceded nothing. Then Ray Quinn struck again for his second  goal and later on Marty Devlin gave his man the slip to score another goal from a very accute angle and we went on to win comfortably, Boden only getting their goal late in the game. . The whole team played exceptionally well with Robert Quinn,Declan O Dwyer and Paudie O Brien playing leading roles.
Our Junior hurlers had their first defeat in the championship on wednesday night. They travelled to Finglas where a surprisingly strong Erins Isle proved too much for Olafs. This defeat means that Olafs go into the quarter final and Erins Isle go into the semi-final of the Championship. We could end up meeting Isles again in the final and hopefully get revenge for this defeat.
