Our Seniors had a hard earned win over Donard/Glen and are joint leaders of Division 1...

November 8, 2018

23rd April 2007:

Our Senior team has played 7 matches in Division 1 – beating Bray, St. Patricks, An Tochar, Carnew, Blessington and Donard. Newtown beat us in Newtown. This is a very good start to the year – keep up the good work!!

Our Junior ‘A’ Squad are also top of Division 3 following good wins against Avondale and Newtown and a draw with Lacken. In our 4th game last week against Blessington we were leading by 1 point with time almost up. However a Blessington player suffered a bad leg injury and the match was eventually abandoned due to failing light.

Our Junior ‘C’ team got their competitive season off to a good start with a win over Donard / Glen in Division 4 last week. Well done to all.

Our Juveniles are very busy on the playing fields and all squads are back in training.
Our U14’s have qualified for the West Championship final – V’s Blessington on 4th of May.
They are also competing in the Final Qualifiers for Feile on Saturday next in Greystones @ 11.30am. Best of luck to players and mentors.

March 2007:
Baltinglass GAA Club held their Dinner Dance on St. Patricks night in the Seven Oaks hotel, Carlow. It was a great night and thoroughly enjoyed by the 200 who attended. County Chairman Andy O’Brien and his wife Anna were guests of honour. Other special guests were Mick O’Dwyer and Arthur French and they proved to be very popular.

Our 1982 Wicklow Senior Football Cahmpionship winning Panel was honoured on the night with each member presented with crystal clocks.

Our all conquering Ladies Panel were also presented with their League and Championship winning medals and they celebrated well into the night!

Another highlight was the presentation of the ‘Players of the Year’ awards –
Senior: Billy Cullen
Junior ‘A’: John Murray
Junior ‘C’: James Barrett
Ladies: Elaine Byrne
These players were worthy winners as they represented the club at training and matches with great skill and committment.

February 2007:
Our seniors had a very good win over Hollywood in the semi final of the Eddie Dwyer tournament – final score Balto 2 – 13, Hollywood 1 – 08. Our younger players did very well with both Ian and James Sheerin scoring the goals for Balto in the first half. Gary Cullen did well at full back and Shane Wall is settling in well at centre back. Billy Cullen played very well at wing back. Tommy Murphy and Brian Fleming did well throughput also.
We now face neighbours Kiltegan in the final – fixed for Tuesday night 20th of Feb in Baltinglass @ 8.00pm. Best of luck.
Division 1 of the league is due to start on the first week-end of March.

Our Senior Team started 2007 with a very encouraging win over neighbours Donard / Glen in the Eddie Dwyer tournament on Tuesday night 30th January 2007. We had a very young team out and the new management team of Tommy Murphy, Brian (chick) Kilcoyne and Billy Cullen must have been very happy with the effort made by all players. Moving Shane Wall to centre back worked very well – if Mick O’Dwyer was present he would surely call Shane back into the panel. Our lads recommenced training last week so this win should keep the morale in good shape within the panel.
We have qualified for the semi final and we await the winners of Hollywood and Stratford.

Our Junior ‘A’ team are playing the semi final of Division 3 league on Saturday the 17th of February against Newcastle – in Arklow @ 3.00pm. The lads came back training early to get themselves in some sort of shape for this one. Best of luck.
