Over 100 children attend Cúl Camps

November 8, 2018

Cúl Camps success

Well done to the organisers of this year’s successful Cúl Camps which came to an end last Friday.

With well over 100 children involved, from U12s down, it was one of Barna GAA’s biggest and best camps in years so well done to all involved.

Special thank you to the pitch committee in Furbo for use of the facilities and to Galway GAA for making available Irish speaking coaches.

As the club continues to promote the Irish language, awards were given to those children who best promoted ‘Gaeilge’ during participation in the camps.

The club would also like to thank Seán Ó Gráinne, Pádraig Ó Gráinne and Seán Gormley for their hard-work in making the camps go smoothly.

Sympathy

Barna GAA extends sympathy to the family and friends of Paddy Joe Walsh who sadly passed away this week.

Paddy Joe from Trusky West was a good friend and supporter of the football club, and for years helped out on various schemes at the pitch at Clochscoilte, including grass-cutting.  His children and grandchildren are involved in the club.

The club would also like to sympathise with eth family of Paul Duffy, who passed away this week.

Paul, well known for designing show-jumping courses, had connections with Barna GAA.

Minor match

Barna GAA’s minor footballers are in West Board A Championship action next Wednesday, July 23, at 7pm in Pearse Stadium against neighbours An Spidéal. All support is welcome.

Many of the lads that will be starting on Wednesday starred for the club’s junior team who defeated Na Piarsaigh by two points, 0-9 to 0-7, on Saturday. Na Piarsaigh were unbeaten and top of the table, but Barna got the upper hand in a keenly fought contest.

Good luck Ciara

Barna GAA Club wishes local girl Ciara Lynagh and the Galway minor ladies' team every success as they take on Dublin in the All-Ireland minor final this Saturday July 19 in Birr County Offaly at 2pm. All support welcome.
