Limerick FC restructuring:
Club to become a community focussed trust

Thursday 24th June 2010

Limerick FC wishes to confirm that Munster Football Club Limited, trading as Limerick FC, is to be restructured. It wishes to confirm that the shareholding of Chairman, Pat O’Sullivan, has been placed in trust for the benefit of the community at large and the club will operate from this point forward as a non-profit organisation. This will not in any way effect the on- or off-field operations of the club and is merely a move that confirms the commitment of Limerick FC Chairman Pat O’Sullivan to developing the club as a community focused organisation.

Outlining the restructuring of the club, Patrick J Geraghty, ConnollySellors Geraghty, said: ‘Mr O’Sullivan has always considered his investment to date, both personal and financial, as having been made for social and community based reasons and not for any personal gain or benefit.

‘I have been instructed by Mr O’Sullivan in clear and unequivocal terms to put in place appropriate structures and procedures whereby; (a) his existing shareholding in Limerick FC will be placed in trust for the benefit of the community at large and these shares will thereafter be controlled by independently appointed trustees; (b) a committee or council will be appointed representative of all levels of the community and this committee or council will thereafter decide on how the business and affairs of Limerick FC will conducted into the future.

‘I expect that the arrangements will be put in place very shortly.’

Any queries regarding to the new club structure can be directed to Patrick J Geraghty, Connolly Sellors Geraghty on 061-414355.
