PRO Notes for the 27th February 2017

The club are taking part again this year in the Ocean FM quiz, the first round is against Coolera / Strandhill Club and will take place in O'Grady's, Coolaney on Monday 27th February at 7pm. Support for the team would be appreciated. 

Registration of all players from U-6 to Senior Level will take place on Saturday 4th March, in St.Nathy's Hall and Coolaney Community Centre between 11-1pm. The cost this year for Adults is E40, students E20 and U-18's E10. All players must be registered for insurance before they play in any game.  

The March monthly meeting will take place on Tuesday, 7th March at 9pm in Coolaney Community Centre. All members welcome. 

Sligo GAA Coach Pat Kilcoyne was in attendance at last weeks Coaching Committee meeting. He informed us that he has been appointed as the club mentor for the coming year. He advised all coaches from all levels within the club that he available over the phone for advice and to take a coaching session with their respective teams at any time during the coming playing season. Pat's contact number is 087 6384032. 

U-14 training continues every Sunday morning at 12pm in Nace O'Dowd Park. New players are welcome. 

U-12 training has commenced on a Tuesday evening at 7pm in Bunninadden Community Centre. New players welcome. 

Blue Kidz U-8 & U-10 training commences this Saturday morning, 18th February from 10-11am in Collooney Teeling Centre. New players & children are very welcome to attend. Your club wants you!

The Blue Kidz Nursery programme for junior and senior Infants (4 to 6 years) in Coolaney Community Centre and St Nathy's Hall, Mullinabreena every Saturday morning from 10-10.45am. We encourage all children from the club catchment to attend, as this is a fun and enjoyable introduction to the skills of Gaelic Games. Fun for free! 

Lotto tickets are currently on Sale. This is the Club's main fundraiser for the year and the continued support of the local communities is greatly appreciated. 

grma (go raibh maith agat) is the new GAA Membership Card programme providing benefits and rewards to you, as a GAA member.  It is a ‘thank you’ or ‘go raibh maith agat’ for your involvement in your GAA club, engagement in GAA activities and attendance at games. Registration for the programme is now open with benefits available from January 2017. When you sign up, you will receive your Membership Card early next year enabling you to avail of partner discounts, special offers and earn points for going to games. Points can be redeemed by individual members or pooled for redemption by GAA clubs. You will need a GAA membership number to join grma and receive a Membership Card. Please request your membership number at your club when you renew your subscription for 2017. New club members will not have a GAA membership number until their club has registered them on the GAA Games Management System. The club will be able to provide a membership number once this registration step has been completed.Membership Cards will only be distributed to members who have signed up to grma online.The programme is only available to adult members (over 18’s).

The new Club Players' Association (CPA) is urging all club members, (playing & non playing) to register their details at www.gaaclubplayers.com. "Let your voice be heard"!

Good luck to St Attracta's Senior & Junior teams this week as they compete in their Connacht A Finals. First up is the Junior team who take on St Jarlath's on Tuesday, 28th February at 2pm in the Connachr COE. The senior team are in action this Saturday, 4th March against Colmans. Throw in 3pm in the Connacht COE. The club is well represented on both teams & panels with Conor Feely, David Barrett, Gavin Gorman, Kieran Gorman, Michael O'Dowd on the junior panel while Eamonn Gorman, Barry Gorman, Shane Gormalley, Paul Connolly, Niall Connolly, Kevin O'Kennedy & Gavin Gorman on the senior panel. 

Good luck to Nathan Mullen who is part of the NUIG team that take on DCU in the Freshers All Ireland Final this Friday evening, 3rd March. Throw in 6.30pm in Kiltoom. 

Congrats to Gavin Feely who was part of the Garda College panel that won the Ryan Cup at the weekend. 

Scor Sinsir takes place this year in Ballintogher Hall on Saturday 11th March. The following are the categories, Quiz Team (4), Dancing, solo singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act. Contact Eugene Henry for more details.

The club are delighted to announce that they will be hosting a Kellogg's GAA Cul Camp on the week 31st July-4th August. More details in the weeks and months to come. Anyone interested in coaching in this years Kellogg's GAA Cul Camps should send their C.V. to liamog.gormley.gm.sligo@gaa.ie. Applicants must be over 18 years on 1st June 2017.

Commiserations to  Criostoir Davey and all the Sligo team & management on their defeat to Antrim last Sunday. Good luck in their next encounter against Laois this Sunday afternoon in Markievicz Park.
