following on from this and in order to field as many juvenile teams as possible to meet growing needs within the club and the community we are anxious to encourage more local people including parents to become involved in coaching our young boys and girls in football camogie and hurling. We would particularly welcome and encourage parents of young children that are playing for the club or who are attending the club coaching sessions. Many of our current club coaches have become involved with club teams through their children’s interest in playing for the club.

It is a great way to get involved with the club and it is surprising how much enjoyment you will get out of it. Most importantly you will be involved with the development of your own child’s and other young children’s skills as well. You will also be providing a great service to your local GAA Club and to your community. No previous skills or coaching qualifications are required as the club will arrange all the necessary coaching courses and you will of course be required to attend a Child Protection Course before taking part in any coaching sessions or assisting any juvenile teams.

The Club will host a second open meeting on Tuesday 17th February at 8.00pm in the Clubrooms at Circular Road attended by senior club coaches who will do a presentation on the benifits/enjoyment for coaches and support that will be available. The meeting will finish with tea and completion of questionaire focusing on individual coach support needs, and game people are interested in coaching.

The GAA is a family community and we would encourage all parents and family members to come along to the clubrooms on Tuesday 17th February and become involved with your local club. If you have just moved into the area, are single, have no previous involvement with the GAA or are just curious come along and listen to what GAA volunteering is all about – everyone is welcome.

Please feel free to give me a call if you are unsure of the role you can play in the club or if you require any further information Alternatively have a chat with any of our club coaches or committee.
