Sarsfield win Feile A for 3rd time in 4 Years

Sarsfields VMoorefield Feile A Final

This match promised to be a crowd puller and both clubsdidn’t disappoint as there was a great turn out from both sides. The conditionsat times proved to be difficult for the boys and this was shown with 18 mingone and just a point each up on the score board. Up to this point both teamshad some good opportunities and it was probably Moorefield who had the betterof the chances.

Now at 20 min into the game came the first goal when TonyKeogh was fouled in the middle of the pitch and a quick free kick saw KevinKyne get the ball and beat his man to hit the back of the net to put Sarsfields1-01 to 0-01 ahead. The game then went in Sarsfields favour for the remainderof the half which saw Tony Keogh and Daragh Ryan kick some good points to leavethe half time scores at 1-04 to 0-01 in favour of the Sash.

The second half started as the first ended and Sarsfieldsgot some good scores from Daragh Ryan and another Goal from Kevin Kyne whichsaw Sarsfields go into an 11 point lead. Moorefield had not given up and werestill pressing forward with some great work in the middle of the park by Jo JoConlon, but the Sarsfields defence stood strong with the likes of StephenBrennan at centre half back and a fine display from Adam Donoghue at cornerback made it difficult for Moorefield to get scores. It was now time for theSarsfields Captain to put the game beyond the Moores and he did so with a greatsolo run from the middle of the park to hit the net with a left foot finishinto the bottom corner. (He didn’t learn that off his Father!!)

Now with a comfortable lead it was looking likely that  Sarsfields were going to claim the Title butnot without a late rally from Moorefield which saw 2 late points and a welltaken Jo Jo Conlon penalty to leave the final score at Sarsfields 4-07Moorefield 2-03.

Best for Sarsfields were Tony Keogh, Adam Donoghue, DaraghRyan, Eoin Kieran, and Stephen Brennan while Jo Jo Conlon and Sean McDonnellplayed well for the Moores.
