Scealta na Seachtaine

November 8, 2018

Fixtures:Final Shield A game is on Saturday in Gortletteragh at 6.30. This game wasn’t played last Saturday and is fixed for next Saturday. Our junior ladies are playing in a new Connacht League and their first fixture is against Renmore from Galway on next Saturday at 7.00 in Kilbride, Co Roscommon

Juniors Lose to Allen Gaels in Div 3:Our Junior A team got a roasting from Allen Gaels on Sunday last. It was a game when nothing went right, passes went astray, Allen Gaels took every chance they got and a very bad first half left us behind by 5-7 to 0-3 at half time. Having played with the wind in the first half, we thought there would be worse to come in the second half but strangely we played a lot better in the second half and apart from a goal that Allen Gaels got in the final minute we held our own even against the fairly strong wind. It was a game where hardly anyone played well apart from Gavin Brennan and Rory O’Rourke. In finished Allen Gaels 5-13 to O’Heslins 0-6. We have played three games and lost three so far in this division.
First win for our Juniors in Div 4:Our Junior B team had an unexpected and most deserved victory over Leitrim Gaels on Monday in the Park. It was very different from the display of our Junior A team on Sunday and the main difference was effort. Playing Leitrim Gaels first team we would have expected to be up against it based on previous years experience. However, from the start there was determined effort and some outstanding displays. We led at half time by 2-6 to 0-3 and it finished 2-9 to 1-8. In defence Éamon Walsh had an outstanding game and so too had Gavin Brennan. Joseph Murphy at centre half was particularly good in the first half. Paul Prior had a great game at midfield. In attack Trevor Martin was exceptional and Cormac O Suilleabháin, Shane McWeeney and Stephen Beirne when he came on, were also in good form. It was great to see half a dozen subs available for a third team game and this victory; their first in four outings should help greatly.
Sean O Heslins Ladies beat Aughnasheelin: This was the girls best performance to date, with a great team effort from our number 1 to 13 and our subs. The O’Heslins Ladies seem to be in control of the game from start to finish.  The girls took some great scores and played some great football, which was a joy to watch.  The game finished Sean O’Heslins 5-11 to Aughnasheelin 0-2.  We had some great support at the game on Sunday and we hope they come next Saturday the 10th May as the girls will be taking part in the Connacht League in Kilbride in Roscommon against Renmore of Galway @ 7.00pm.  Please come along and support the Sean O’Heslins Ladies.  The best of luck to all the girls taking part in the Connacht League.

U14s Draw with DrumreillY:Our 3rd match in the U-14 league ended in a draw in Aughawillan against Drumreilly on Friday evening last. After conceding 2 early goals we rallied and were very unlucky not to win in the closing stages and thanks to some good defending we were lucky not to lose. Our team on duty last Fri. night was K. Banks, B. Banks, A. Maguire, C. Moran, M. O’Dell, J. Cullen, N. Creamer, M. McGrory, A. Abdalla, L. Murphy, C. O`Reilly, D. McGovern, D. Feely, C. Reynolds, C. McCaffrey. Subs used K. McHugh and E. Moran. Our next match is fixed for next Fri eve at home to Carrigallen but this may change so check posters for confirmation of fixture.
General Club Meeting:The will be a general club meeting, open to all club members on Friday week next. Venue and time in next week’s notes.
