Scór Concert

As is usual when we have made the All Ireland Finals, we will be running a Scór Concert to help defray Scór expenses and especially the trip to Killarney. It will also be a chance for those who havn’t seen the act to see and enjoy it.  The Concert will be in the Commercial Hotel on Tuesday 22 April.

Tickets for All Ireland Scór

Last call for anyone who would like to travel to Killarney. It certainly will be a great occasion and anyone who has ever been to the Gleneagle Hotel will tell it was always a trip to remember. The club will be running a bus, and tickets can be ordered up to this Friday. Please ring Brid Sullivan if you are interested in traveling.
Division 3 team looses to Gortletteragh.
Our first junior team had their first game of the season in Gortletteragh on Sunday morning. They had a good first half and Gortletteragh led by 0-5 to 0-4 at half time. Brian Cafferty had scored three great points from play in this half and Anthony McTague got another. With a howler of a gale blowing across the field we were expecting to do well in the second half, but it didn’t work out that way. We got just two points from Paul Prior in the second half, one a free but Gortletteragh got six to leave them winning by 0-11 to 0-6.

Under 16s lose to Mohill

Sean O’Heslins played Mohill away on Monday last. They missed many opportunities in the first half and managed only a point. Mohill led 0-8 to 0-1 at half time. In the second half O’Heslins had the better of the game and scored 0-5 to Mohill’s 0-3. It ended Mohill 0-11 O’Heslins 0-6.

45 Bliain ag freastal ar Bord Contae Liatroma

On Monday last Gerry Mahon attended his last meeting as Central Council Delegate. Although Jim Meehan was elected at last December’s Convention to succeed Gerry on Central Council, the appointment only takes effect after Congress. Gerry Mahon attended his first Co Board meeting representing the Aughnasheelin club in 1961 and has been attending Co Board meeting ever since in one capacity or another, whether it was as club delegate, Connacht Council delegate, Central Council, Hurling Board, Oifigeach Gaeilge or Cathaoirleach. Indeed for a period while he was working in Cavan, he represented the Corlough club at Cavan Co Board. All in all a remarkable length of service.
In that period in Leitrim there were10 County Chairmen (Fr Seán Manning, Fr Bernie Doyle, Fr Gene Cox, George O’Toole, Gerry himself, Sean Murray, Tony McGowan, Des Quinn, Michael McGowan and Gerry McGovern and 7 County Secretaries (Tommy O’Riordan, Tony McGowan, Stanley Cox, Tommy Moran, Seamus Gallagher, Stephen Flynn and Declan Bohan)
