 Mylocalnews-message from Founder

The website www.mylocalnews.ie was established to help community organisations to promote their message FREE of charge to those living at home and away. It has been a great success with over 2,000 organisations already using the service. The 3,250 visits alone to your Sean Treacy club newsletter is testimony to this.

It’s also clear from the news postings that more and more organisations are increasingly cash strapped and are employing all fundraising mechanisms, table quiz, race nights, etc, simply to keep afloat.

We have an idea which we feel will help in a real and tangible way;

Local businesses now see
www.mylocalnews.ie as a cost effective way to reach their target market for as little as €240-€480+VAT per year on your town page. Value is especially important in these straightened times.
When therefore, a local business books an advert on
www.mylocalnews.ie they can nominate a local organisation to whom we will immediately send a cheque for 25% of the net amount.
Depending on the location of the 12 month advertising campaign (ie, Town, or County page) and the number of adverts booked, this will yield funding support of between €600 and a few thousand Euros for your community.
This is a win-win for the community and the local business.

In booking the campaign, the business only needs to specify the following;
·         Name of community organisation to receive the support
·         Address
·         Contact name
·         Contact mobile number (for verification)

We are considering appointing sales agents in each county. Our clear preference however in the first instance is to directly help the community organisations who are using
www.mylocalnews.ie in this meaningful way.

There are only three terms and conditions to this offer;
·         The cheque will only be made out to your community organisation, not to an individual.
·         The community organisation must be registered on
www.mylocalnews.ie
·         It does not apply to advertising already booked on the site.

We hope this further demonstrates the bona fides of
www.mylocalnews.ie as a community based service.
We also look forward to reading more of your news updates ……..and sending Sean Treacys that cheque in the post!

If you or a local business would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me directly on 086-8218444

Kind regards,

Kevin McDermott,

Sean Treacy’s Board Na nOg

Road Hurling is back again

On 9 May this hugely successful event will take place at Kilcommon. Last year’s road hurling attracted over 50 teams from all over the county.  This year the Sean Treacy’s organising committee has added a new category to the event, last year we had a veterans, women and a general class, this year we are having a family class: where a parent and 2 children can take part in their own competition.

Road hurling will commence at 11.30 am to 2.30 pm on Sunday 9 May.  The 9th May is a FREE day in the GAA calendar so come along to this great and ever growing event. So do come along for the sport. Each Team consists of three members.

Sports Day

May 9 is a very busy day in the club. A special sports day for the youth of the parish will commence at 3.30 pm on this day.

The sports day is designed to be fun, fun, and fun for the kids and parents alike. The best part of it is it is all free, sponsored by the Sean Treacy Board Na nOg. Events include under 8, 10, 12 and 14’s boys and girls races.  The committee would appreciate a helping hand on the day from the parents where needed at each event and a shop will be open on the day.

Under 12 Football Championships

Our under 12 footballers had an exciting win over Emly at our grounds in Kilcommon. The final score was 1-5 to 0-3 and the second round of the championship is on 10 May against Rosegreen at our home grounds.

Under 16 Football

Our combo with Emly at under 16 continues to flourish. After a great win last week against Kickhams, we now go on to play Bansha in the semi-finals at Cappa on the evening of the 6th May.

Hollyford National School

A great day for Hollyford NS and Siobhain Carr when her students won their first ever Cuman na Bunscoil hurling match at Durlas Og venue.  Their sweet victory over Mohober National School was savoured.
