SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 2

NAAS INTO QUARTER FINALS

NAAS    0  –  15       CARBURY    1  –  6

Naas qualified for the SFC quarter finals with a superb six point victory over Carbury. This was a great team performance by Naas particularly in the second half when they were one man short for part of it.

Naas dominated throughout and only a fortunate goal by Carbury’s  Barry Moore kept them in the game. Naas led 0 – 7 to 1 – 3 at half-time.

Man of the match was Ailin McDermott whose strong runs  caused  the Carbury defence all sorts of trouble. He also scored three great points.

In Ronan Joyce Naas have an excellent free taker. All his five points came from frees.

Eamonn Callaghan scored a point from all of 60 yards in the 16th. minute of the second half  to put Naas three points clear.

The Naas defence did a great job in closing down the Carbury attack.

Naas midfielder Brian Kane scored two points from play.

Conor Mellett came on for his first game in two years and scored a point with his first touch.
