SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Rd. 1 v ALLENWOOD

Naas defeated Allenwood by nine points in Rd. 1 S.F.C. played at Hawkfield.

The sides were evenly matched in the first half and were separated at the interval by a Conor Mellet goal for Naas in the 19th minute.

Eamonn Callaghan got possession in midfield and passed to Brian Kane who found Conor Mellet on the edge of the square. The Naas man rounded his marker and tucked the ball into the far corner of the net.  Naas led 1 – 4 to 0 – 4 at the interval. Three of the Four Allenwood points came from former county star Johnny Doyle.

Naas dominated the first Twenty minutes of the second half scoring Seven points without reply from Ronan Joyce (0 – 3 from frees), Conor Mellet 0 – 3) and one from the industrious Brian Kane.

In the last Ten minutes Naas scored Three points to Four for Allenwood but the game was well over at that stage.
