SENIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIV.1 Rd. 9 v CARBURY

This was a polished performance from the home side. From the tenth minute onwards, when Carbury led by 0 – 2 to nil ,Naas dominated the game. Naas led 0 – 7 to 0 – 3 at the interval.

With Paul McDermott and David Gahan on top at mid-field and Conor Mellett back to his old self at full-forward ably supported by the Joyce brothers Ronan and John and Joey Cocoman Naas controlled the second half and ran out easy winners.

Naas also had strong performances from Paul Sullivan and Eoghan Bateman in defence and Conor Ferguson in attack. While Daryl O’Brien, Darren Moore, Stephen McGlynn and Michael Kelly did well for Carbury.

Carbury opened the scoring with points in the 2nd. and 7th. minutes  from corner forward Stephan McGlynn .Two points from Ronan Joyce levelled matters for Naas and his brother John put Naas ahead. Paul Sullivan(Naas) and  Stephan McGlynn(Carbury) swapped points. Naas led 0 – 4 to 0 – 3. Three further points from Conor Ferguson, Joey Cocoman and Ronan Joyce left Naas four clear at half-time.

Naas added five points without reply in the first ten minutes  of the second half through Paul McDermott(3) and Conor Mellett(2) to lead 0 – 12 to 0 – 3. Points from Michael Kelly and Sean Costello reduced the arrears but Naas added a further seven points without reply from Conor Mellett (2), Neil Farragher(2), Eoghan Bateman, Ronan Joyce and Ailin McDermott before the end.
