Senior Hurling League

November 8, 2018

Kinvara’s senior hurlers will see action very soon in the County Senior Hurling League. This year the format is different with four groups of five teams as per the championship. However in this format what happens is that all the teams in Kinvara’s group will play the teams of another group.

Heh?

Kinvara’s group is Kinvara, Clarinbridge, Beagh, Killimordaly and Portumna. However, since these teams will be playing each other in the championship, they will not play each other in the league. Therefore they have been paired with another group consisting of Sarsfields, Gort, Athenry, Kiltormer and Craughwell.

Thererfore Kinvara will play against these five teams – Sarsfields, Gort, Athenry, Kiltormer and Craughwell. Their results in these five games will be put into a league group, alongside Clarinbridge’s, Beagh’s, Killimordaly’s and Portumna’s results against those five teams.

The top four teams in group qualify for Preliminary Quarter-final and the knockout stages.

This is a change from last year, in that instead of playing a potential meaningless sixth round league game, teams will be competing at knockout stages and hopefully competitive hurling.

The first game is fixed for the first weekend in March. What this website for further details.
