Seniors and reserves

November 8, 2018

Seniors
The seniors had their first league match against a very determined Naomh Colmcille side on Sunday last. St. Marys emerged victorious eventually in a very hard fought game with the local rivals. At half time St. Mary’s had a numerical advantage and although they played with the wind in the second half they struggled to make this count and indeed the side was behind with just 10 minutes to go. However the team showed great character in coming back to win. Final score: St. Mary’s 0 11:  Naomh Colmcille 0 7. Scorers: Padraig Porter (0 5), Packie Mailey (0 3), Larry Mc Mullan (0 2) and Mark Sweeney (0 1). The next game was to be at home against Lifford this weekend, however due to the county under 21 championship games have been posptoned.

Reserves
The reserve team got their campaign off to a good start with a 2 8 to 2 3 victory over Naomh Colmcille at home on Saturday. They played with the breeze in the first half but were only 0 5 to 1 0 ahead at half time. St. Marys were forced to defend against a resurgent Naomh Colmcille in the second half and goals from Eugene McGinley and Conor Mc Nulty proved decisive to secure victory. Scorers: Chris Kyle (0 2), Adrian Mc Hugh (0 2), Eugene Mc Ginley (1 1), Gary Mc Cullagh (0 2) and Conor Mc Nulty (1 1).
Senior and reserves training continues at 7.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday. New players welcome.
