SFL Div 4: Clonmore 1- 10 St Andrews 2-6

November 8, 2018

Clonmore Juniors got back to winning ways when they reversed the result of last year’s Junior B Final with a narrow but deserved win away to Bagenalstown in McGrath Park on Wednesday last.

Clonmore dominated the first half but kicked 10 wides and it looked like they would rue these wides when St Andrews went four points up half way through the second half – 2-6 to 1-5. However, Clonmore produced a brilliant last quarter, kicking five unanswered points to record a one point win. Once again Colin Doyle was solid as a rock at full back, David McCarney was outstanding at wing back scoring three points, Collie McGrath went one better with four points from midfield, Paddy Sullivan had the game of his life kicking a spectacular point off the outside of his right boot in the first half and Shane McGrath was always dangerous in the corner, confidently despatching a vital penalty in the second half. Special mention must also go to goalie Daragh Kelly who pulled off a great point blank save in the second half.

Next game is at home to Tinryland on Wednesday, 18 May, 7.30pm.
