SFL Division 5: Clonmore 0-7 Fighting Cocks 1-10.

November 8, 2018

The Juniors played well but just came up short against a strong Fighting Cocks team in their first outing of the season at Woodside on Sunday. The Cocks led 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time, the Clonmore points coming from Gary Byrne and Clive Lambe. A highlight of the first half was a great double save by county U-21 goalkeeper, Paddy Byrne. The lads made a good start to the second half and narrowed the gap to 0-7 to 0-4 but a Cock’s goal on 40 minutes left us with too much to do. Despite some determined efforts from Colin Doyle, Mick Smith and Ger Doyle, we couldn’t close the gap.

Next game: Monday, 31 March, 6.30pm, away to Tullow.

Team: Paddy Byrne, Paul Hogan, Colin Doyle, Fergal Kavanagh, Ger Doyle, Mick Smith, Jordan Walsh, Pauric Lawlor, Paddy Gahan (0-1), Clive Lambe (0-2), Colin McGrath (0-1), Paul Byrne, Gary Byrne (0-1), J P Doyle (0-1), Mark A Byrne (0-1). Subs: John McGrath, Brian Kelly, Mark A Byrne.
