Short Report on the Year's Activities

Return to Senior Highlight of year

The GAA year for Kiltormer was an extremely busy one, with the overall aim of returning the club to the Senior ranks being achieved, despite defeat in the Intermediate final.  The Intermediate and Junior teams also performed well in the League competitions, and at the time of writing, are in the Junior final and the Intermediate semi-final.  Although defeat was our lot in the Intermediate Championship final against Killimordaly, the fact that senior status was restored softened the blow considerably.  Great credit must go the players, management team, including team trainer Tony Keady and officers for their hard work and dedication during the year.

The Club fielded teams at all levels and it was the U-16 grade which was most fruitful for the juvenile players in 2006.  The title was secured after a marvellous game with Meelick/Eyrecourt and a great future is ahead of this bunch of players if they stay together and apply themselves to the game.  It should be noted here that great work is being done at juvenile level in Kiltormer – the Sunday morning sessions continue each week and it is a joy to see all the youngsters striving to improve their skills.  The coaches also improved their skills earlier in the year when the club hosted a Foundation Coaching Course under the tutelage of Gerry Spelman.

Kiltormer also hosted a very successful Tournament during the year, to honour the memory of two great clubmen, Sean Cormican and Eamon Og Lally.  It was held around the August Bank Holiday weekend and featured minor and adult games featuring Kiltormer, Killimor, Mullagh and Meelick/Eyrecourt.  For the record Mullagh won the senior final, while Kiltormer defeated Meelick/Eyrecourt in the Minor.  Mrs. Monica Cormican and Eamon Lally Snr presented cups to the winning captains.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to our main sponsor “Dolan Demolition” for their support during the year, and to all our other sponsors, contributors to the Lotto and the local people without whom we could not function as a club.
