It’s been a bumper week in SKGAA, one of the busiest of the year. There was a crucial win for the senior footballers, three teams picked up silverware and we had numerous county (and even provincial) representatives as well as very important club games over the weekend. All the information s below.

Ted Webb
Well done to Tomo Culhane, Ruairi McDonnell, Evan Nolan and Diarmuid Munroe who helped the U16 Galway City West football team win the Ted Webb Connacht Championship last Friday in Bekan Ballyhaunis.
Well done to Club Referee Conor Quinlan who refereed the All Ireland Camogie 7's Final at the weekend.

Senior
Well done to the senior footballers who put in a great performance to beat Barna by 11 points in round 3 of the championship on Sunday in Pearse Stadium. The win puts the team’s fate back in their own hands. A win in the final game against Tuam Stars will see them progress to the quarter finals but a loss will see them enter the relegation round. There were eye catching performances all over the pitch and particularly Gearoid Armstrong, Barry Kelly, John Maher and Robert Finnerty. Your support is really needed for this final group game. Last year Tuam pipped us by a point with a last gasp goal in an end-to-end match that was a real classic, so it promises to be a great game with Tuam battling to stay out of the relegation rounds as well. The match is due to take place the weekend after next so more details next week.
Minor
The minors are fixed to play their second round championship. match vs Moycullen in the Prairie on Wednesday next at 6.30pm. All support welcome.
Junior
Hard luck to the Junior Footballers who lost out to Renvyle on Saturday afternoon. It truth, the lads will be disappointed after playing so well, that they couldn’t finish out the game in the end. But given two heavy defeats were inflicted by the same opposition last year, progress has definitely been made. The team would like to thank Gerry and Brendan for all the hard work this year.
Juvenile Football
Well done to Evan, Matthew, Patrick, Niall and Eoghan who played for the U14 Acadamy at the weekend.
U6/7 back training next Monday 16th sept 6-7 in St Enda's newcomers welcome but we need parents to help out here as well you don't have to be an expert or played GAA merely willing to help supervise your child and others fur maximum 1 hour
Juv footballl are looking for Volunteers from any age to Help out with committee or even with each age group. a club is only a success if we have enough volunteers so don't be shy get involved or contact your child's coach or manager and lend a helping hand every little helps.
U8s Good turnout last night at training over 30 lads, blitz v Michael breathnachs this Sunday in inverin pitch at 1030.
U-9’s played Claregalway last Sunday in Knockdoemore.We had three games of nine and each got three 15 min games.Great to see the lads bringing what the learn at traing into games.We play Micheal Branachachs this Sunday in Inverin.Training continues Tue. evenings.Any queries phone 086-2201539.
u10s played St Michaels on Sunday in the Westside, with such large numbers, each team got to play two games. Training continues on Sunday mornings and Tuesdays in Cappagh
U11s busily preparing for u12C league final and U12 B shield final great numbers at training Saturday and Tuesday 40 at each. 12C league final v Oranmore on next Sunday morning time and venue TBC. 12C final v Moycullen tues 25th Sept venue TBC.
U12s sending 2 teams to tournament in Howth (Beann Eadair Club) on Sunday 16th. Best luck to James and squad.
U13 footballers took part in the Austin Stacks Tournament in Tralee last weekend. They topped their group with impressive wins over An Ghaeltacht, Ennistymon and especially Austin Stacks. The semi final and fourth game of the day was a tough match against St Mungrets from Limerick and we went out at this stage, with the earlier exertions taking their toll. In total, 31 lads played during the day. A big thanks to the players for their efforts and also the large parental support in Kerry.
U16a training cointinues for championship quarter final

Great to see more SK players don the maroon jersey. What a year so far we are having with 18 players from Juv football u13-u17 representing Galway this year . This is great achievement and credit to all the managers well done keep up the good work.
U16B's won Div4 league final vs Oranmore Maree on Friday on a scoreline on 1-14 to 2-5. The team was made up of mostly u15's with two u16's aswell.
Adult Hurling
Minor
SK Minor A Hurlers were well defeated in the Championship vs Turloughmore on Sunday Evening in Clarinbridge.
Having had the strong breeze on their back's in the first half, SK trailed by 2 which meant they'd really be up against it in the second half.
Turloughmore started well in the second half and despite an SK goal which brought them within 2 points at one stage, the opposition never looked back.
SK battled hard but Turloughmore will hard bet in this Championship.
These young men have done the club proud throughout the year and should hold their head's high. Well done to James Kelly and his backroom team and all involved.
Junior Hurling:
Junior C1 Hurlers are provisionally fixed to play Moycullen in Group Championship this Saturday 15th at 6.45 in the Prairie.

Juvenile Hurling
U12 County Shield Final.
The U12's won the Group 3 Shield on Monday night (10th) after a hard fought battle in tough weather conditions at Pearse Stadium vs Liam Mellows.
Salthill Knocknacarra players displayed great heart, determination and skill against a strong Liam Mellows side and came out the winners in a 3.01 to 1.03 shoreline.
Congratulations to all our boys, including Patrick Harris who won the Man of the Match award.
U6 Hurling
U6 Training Friday at 5:45pm in Cappagh Park. Anyone interested in joining u6's can come along on Friday.
U8 Hurling
U8's visited Turloughmore on Sunday morning, and despite having fewer numbers than at recent blitzes they boys did very well. Next blitz scheduled for Friday 21st in Cappagh versus Annaghdown, followed by Clarinbridge on the Sunday morning.

U10 Hurling
U10 training Friday at 6pm in Cappagh Park .
The lads played a very fun and competitive blitz v Moycullen last Friday. Despite the rain everyone had a great time and had lots of game time.
U15 Hurling
We played Skehana/ Mountbellew/Moylough last Thursday evening in the Prairie. A draw was the end result 1-15 to 3-09 .
On Thursday evening we will travel to Sylane to play the home side at 6:30pm.
Thanks to Tom and Teresa Foley for coming down to the Club and presenting the Niall Foley Memorial Cup last week in the Prairie. Their son Niall passed away 12 years ago at the age of 14. He was a sporting mad SKGAA man and was very passionate about his hurling. Niall played under the guidance of Ger Mulholland .
It was great to listen to Teresa and Tom as they told all the boys all about the passion and pride Niall had in the Salthill Knocknacarra jersey .
So every year in memory of Naill there are two awards presented to the under 14s, one to player of the year and one to the player who has improved the most and worked the hardest . So for 2018 we have shared the Cup, Conal Gavin and Oisín Quinlan were awarded players of the year, and Cormac Kelly received the achievement award.
Thanks again to Tom and Teresa Foley, to Edel Murphy, and all the U14 management and players, and to all who came this evening to remember Niall . He is fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Camogie
Congrats to Mary, Ava, Ailbhe and Sarah who played with the u17 Connacht Camogie Interpros team in DCU at the weekend.
Well done to U11s who won against Moycullen last weekend. Next match up is against Oranmore Maree at home this Saturday , time tbc.
U13s had great win against Kilconieron in a highly entertaining match on Monday evening in a wet and miserable Prairie. Depending on other results, girls will have shield final to look forward to in coming weeks.
Well done to Mary Murray, Ava Conlon, Ailbhe O'Grady Corcoran and Sarah Keane who all played in the U17 interprovincial blitz in DCU on Saturday, winning one of their three matches.
Juniors resume championship this Saturday against Cois Fharraige in Tonabrucky, Sunday 3pm . Please come along and support
Well done to the Junior Camogie team who competed in the Kilmacud 7s at the weekend.
Ladies Football
u16/u18/Junior – Good Training session Wed 5th with 23 girls in attendance. Good mix of Juniors, U18's and U16s. Coaches took the girls through a variety of exercises and a mini game at the end which just would not end…..!!
Sunday 9th was Match day with SK taking on Carraroe in the Minor C Shield final in a new venue [for me ] at Tonabrucky. Thankfully SK came out well on top to claim a Shield Title with a 7-14[35] to 1-7[10] victory over a tough but limited Carraroe team.
Match conditions were challenging with a Stiff breeze unfolding and SK led by County Minor All Ireland winning Panelist Saoirse Flynn won the Toss and played with the wind. Good team performance had the Sea-Side girls 7-13 to 1-0 up at halftime. Game over one would say but Carraroe still had a few kicks in them as they would have the wind in the 2nd half. While they added 0-7 to SK's 0-1 in the second half, it was the SK girls who time and again took the game to Carraroe and while scores did not materialize, many chances were created which exhausted Carraroe.
Unfortunately, SK center back Katie Borwne took a heavy challenge and suffered a bone injury to the upper body late in the second half. Everyone on the Panel and all the Team Management and Ladies Football Section wish Katie the best as she recovers over the coming months. Katie's dogged defence helped in no small way to yesterday's victory and securing this panels second piece of Silver-Wear for 2018. Many Thanks is extended to First Aider David Biggins who attended to Katie and to Mothers Audrey Connaughton and Sinead Madden who took Katie immediately to UCHG A&E.
Next up is the long delayed U16 Shield where the Sea-Siders will play the Losers from Annaghdown V Claregalway. Before that Training takes place Wed 6.30 to 7.30pm at the Prairie Pitch.
u14 – U14 B Team overcame St James's on Monday night in tough conditions in Mervue in the Div 4 championship semi-final 1-9 to 1-2. A very determined overall team effort together with a few really exceptional performers on the night means that this bunch are in the final.
The A team play Caltra this Thursday in the Prairie in their Div 1 quarterfinal.
The C team play Killererin sometime next week in the Div 5 Shield semi-final.
u12 – Un 12 Girls Football Street Leagues begin Wed 12th in Cappagh. Newbees very welcome too. 5.45 to 7pm.
u10 – Great but very wet day at County under 10 blitz 8th Sept in Moycullen. Girls played their hearts out especially the last two games, unfortunately the last kick/point knocked us out of semi final spot. Two draws (Spiddal and Michael Breathnachs) and lost one game by 1 point to St James. Tough group but great improvement shown by all the girls.
Training continues every Wed @7-8pm in Mc Graths Pitch.
