SKGAA Newsletter 20/12/17

November 8, 2018

Nollaig Shona to all our members.

We hope you all have an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas. The Annual John Joyce 7s tournament will take place in the Prairie from 1 o clock on St. Stephens day so be sure and pop down and take a look or even throw the boots on and get involved.

Unfortunately for reasons behind our control the U21 football championship final which was postponed last week has again not been fixed for this weekend. We are extremely upset about this as the lads have been working so hard and expected the game to be fixed for last week. Let's hope common sense prevails and the game will be fixed for next weekend.

In better news the club were awarded a very prestigious Irish language Award at the weekend. Details below….

Gradam Joe McDonagh

Oifeagach Óige Gaeilge Dónal O'Shea agus Oifeagach Gaeilge CLG Bóthar na Trá Cnoc na Cathrach Seán Gavin ag bronnadh Bonn Airgid ó Fhondúireacht Seosamh Mhic Donnchadh i bPáirc an Chrocaigh ar an Satharn.

Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club received a silver award at the Joe McDonagh Foundation awards on Saturday in Croke Park for their promotion and use of the Irish Language in the Club. They were only city side and non-Gaeltacht based Galway Club to be honored on the night. With no club attaining the top Gold level in the first year, SKGAA can count itself one of the most progressive clubs in the country at the promotion and use of our native tongue.

Maith thú Seán agus Dónal.
