Adult Football

Well done to Sean Armstrong and Evan Wynne who both played in Galway's win over Kildare at the weekend, with Evan making his first start for the Galway Seniors in the league. All roads lead to Croke Park this Sunday for the final with Dublin at 4pm. Best of luck to the lads and all the team and management.

The seniors had a good win over Caherlistrane in a challenge last weekend and will play Moycullen this Monday at 12.30pm in the Prairie.

The minors had mixed fortunes this week recording a heavy win over Leitir Mór at the weekend, and suffering a heavy loss to Barna last night. Up next is St. Michaaels next week. The team will be happy enough, given all 35 players in the squad who have been available have all received playing time in the first 3 games and there is still a good chance of qualifying for the league final.

The Juniors begin their league campaign this Saturday with a trip out to Rosmuc to play Na Piarsaigh in Round 1. That game throws in at 6.45 TBC.

Adult Hurling

Great win for SK Junior A Hurling who beat Menlo Emmets convincingly in their second round match of Junior 1 Championship on Sunday last in the Prairie. The Final Score was 3-29 to 1-11.

Team on the day was as follows:

Stevie Cullinane; Kieran O'Connell; John Kelly; Aidan Hawkins; Dylan O'Halloran; Eoin Finn; Ciaran O'Dwyer; Brendan Moran; Keith Gleeson; Seannie Joyce; Sean Burke; Ross Gorey; Kevin O'Connell; Mike O'Donnell; Stephen Commins.

Subs: Matthew Keane, Morgan Hanley, Bryan O'Sullivan, Rian McNeill, Robert Clifford, Tommy Roche, Mikey Collins.

We will have no training this Friday 30th due to Easter, so next activity for this group will be the Easter Academy starting Tues 3rd. Thanks to all who have signed up already and you can still show up on the day.

Finally, we will have a match away to Moycullen on Sun morning April 8th.

Easter Camp has been a great success with over 70 kids down on a daily basis thanks to all the coaches.

Ladies Football

SKGAA Ladies football are holding a table quiz in Sheridan's, on April 12th @ 8.30pm. Get the date out to everyone involved, parents etc. Spot prizes and sponsors welcome. All funds raised are for Ladies football.

u16 – The First Game of the U16 League Div 2 took place Sunday 25th in soggy Moycullen. SK Girls triumphed over a Strong Moycullen team on a score line of 7-6 to 3-6. Much of the foundation victory was laid in the first 10 Min's where the Girls took the game immediately to Moycullen and were 3 goal up after that 10mins. With the whole team performing as a unit, the girls went on to add more excellent scores up to half time. Moycullen did score some goals in the second half but one felt that the SK girls hadthe upper hand on this day. 19 girls Togged and this was a milestone day also as the Fantastic new jerseys were used for the first time. These jerseys will be used with U16's, U18's and if required for the Adult Ladies Junior football team. Many Thanks is extended to the Club Executive and Mike Tarpey, Director of Ladies Football for securing this fabulous new Set of 30 off Jerseys. Next up is the local Derby v Barna on 2/4/18 in Game 2 of the League. Training outdoors takes place Wed 28th in the Prairie. Thanks to the Mother who took the new Jerseys for wash no 1 last Sunday.

Coaching Corner

The first all-club Coaching Forum last Saturday 24 March was an outstanding success. Thanks to all the coaches who took part – 33 at the hurlling/camogie session and approximately the same at the football session. We are indebted to coach educators Maurice Sheridan, Paul Munroe, Kevin Johnson, Gerry Spleman and Eamon O'Shea – each brought their unique style and knowledge to the day.

Day is best captured in some of the feedback receive here:
