We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. The weather continues to wreak havoc with pitches with many a pitch closing and games postponed so fingers crossed that Spring with make its appearance soon and the grass will start to grow and the rain will start to stop. However there is still lots to report on. There are a number of different Easter Camps taking place in the Árus and the Prairie this week with nearly 100 children between the Hurling/Camogie camp and the Juvenile Camp so again thank to Edel Murphy, Louise Begley and all the organisers for their time and effort this week. The senior footballers begin their league campaign this Saturday vs Oughterard so please get out and support the lads.

Health and Wellbeing
As part of the club's Health and Wellbeing Initiatives, we have organised a trip to Croke Park Museum on the 5th of May. All the details are in the flyer below but here's a quick breakdown:
– Bus leaves the Árus at 9am on Saturday the 5th of May.
– The cost is 35euro for OAP's and 40 euro for anybody else.
– The cost includes the bus, lunch and a guided tour all taking place at Croke Park.
– People will have a chance to look around the museum themselves after the tour.
– The bus will stop once on the way up and once on the way back.
– The trip is open to anyone at all, not just members or OAP's but we are targeting our Life Members and Retired Members of the Community in particular as a social outing.
– To book a place just call James in the office on 091527333 or call into him in the Árus.
– Places are limited so please book your place early to guarentee your space.
– If you know of anyone who might be interested in this trip, please let them know.

Adult Football
Hard luck to Sean Armstrong, Evan Wynne and Robert Finnerty who were all involved with the Galway team who lost out in the league final to Dublin at the weekend.
The seniors begin their Division 1 league campaign vs Oughterard in Oughterard this Saturday at 6pm. Please come out and support the lads.
The minors bounced back from their defeat last week with a good win over St. Michaels last night on a score of 3-10 to 1-09. Up next is Moycullen away next Wednesday and a win will see the lads qualify for the final.
The U20s are awaiting the fixture for the West Board Final where they will play Moycullen. The winners will go on to play Mounbellew Moylough in the County Final. Mountbellew Moylough overcame Claregalway at the weekend after extra time in the North Board decider.
Adult Hurling
Training for Adult Hurlers moved to Thursday this week at 7pm. Pitch Session at Cappagh Juvenile Pitch.
Juvenile Hurling
U8 Hurling
No U8 training this Friday.Street League for boys in Snr Inf, 1st Class and others born 2010 starting 6pm Wed April 11 in Cappagh. Text 0872114154 with boys name to register.
U10 Hurling
No under 10 training this week due to Academy.
U12 Hurling
Large attendance at Academy this week means no U12 training on Friday.
Challenge game vs Moycullen on Sunday morning in Moycullen, 11am.
U14 Hurling
The U14's had a busy weekend, we travel to Ahascragh on Good Friday and lost to the home side . On Bank holiday Monday we played Mullagh Kiltormer in Kiltormer and with a lot of players away , once again we came out on the wrong side.
Our next game is Wednesday week 11th of April against Cois Fharraige away in Rd 1 of the Féile, on the luck Friday the 13th we play Liam Mellows in the Prairie and travel to Spiddal to play Gort on the Saturday the 14th . Unfortunately this is a very tough group as all the teams are a division above us .
U16 Hurling
The U16's travelled across the city last Thursday to play Liam Mellows in Rd 2 of the Championship. Played in terrible weather conditions we came away with a excellent win . A goal in injury time gave us a 2 point win .
Final score SKGAA 3-11 to 2-12 Liam Mellows. Next up is an away game to Ahascragh Thursday (5th ) evening .
Camogie
U12s play their first game in county cluster blitz competition this Thursday at 6.15 in Cappagh.
U14s play Castlegar away in second match of county championship this evening, Wednesday at 6.30.
SK Juniors played their first league game at Junior A level against Clarinbridge last Monday evening in the Prairie, losing by 1-13 to 1-6.1507. The team battled to the very end against strong opposition and will learn a lot from the game. Next league game is against Cois Fharraige away next weekend.
Juvenile Footballvnile Football
Not much activity over the Easter break especially with the bad weather
Highlight was the Football camp run by Noel Tyrell with over 80boys and girls attending was a great success and it was great to see few of our senior team help out also well done everyone and thanks to everyone for attending.
U10/11 start training on Sunday mornngs next April 8th 10-11 in cappagh park.
U12 Ciara continue to train Sundays and Tuesdays too with the Pete Burke and Enda Colleran tournaments coming up on next 2 weeks.
U 14a travelled to Dublin to play Kilmacud Croke's in a challenge game SK acquitted themselves well but Crokes one of the favourites fur dublin proved too strong
The lads then went into Croke Park to support Galway v Dublin and had a great day out thanks to Conor Alan and all the parents coaches who travelled.
The U14a footballers played St. James's in the first round of the championship on Tues 27th March in Mervue. It was a great game of football which ebbed and flowed throughout. Our lads fought back from behind on 3 different occasions eventually drawing the match scoring 2-6 to St. James's 3-3. Next up was a challenge vs. Kilmacud Crokes on Sunday April 1st. Despite a very slow start the lads battled on, especially in the 2nd 15 minutes. We managed to outscore a strong Kilmacud team in the 2nd half, but not enough to make up for the slow start. Training continues on Tues evenings outdoors at St. Marys from 6.15-7.30pm.
‘The U14B team got their campaign off to a solid start with a comprehensive away win to Corofin. In a game of two halves, goals made all the difference and a fabulous second half performance ensured a winning start. St Michael’s is the next game.
U16B will be taking on Claregalway B in Knockdoemore later this week in first league game. It was postponed yesterday due to unplayable pitch.
Ladies Football
SKGAA Ladies football are holding a table quiz in Sheridan's, on April 12th @ 8.30pm. Get the date out to everyone involved, parents etc. Spot prizes and sponsors welcome. All funds raised are for Ladies football.
u16 – U16s League Div2 Game 2. A fine win Monday over near neighbours in an excellent game with slippy underfoot conditions. Both teams used the ball well. SK converted more of their chances. SK7-8 (29) to Barna 3-14(23). SK County players exceptional but well backed by rest of panel. Played last 15 mins without 1 county player and conceded some scores to Barna to bring game closer. Next up Grainne Mhaols on Sunday 8th April.
u14 – Girls Div 4 team gave a great team performance against St James's last week. An end to end and very exciting encounter that our girls edged 1-6 to 1-4. Fantastic attitude from all 24 players who featured. No confirmation yet about the U14 Féile which was supposed to be on this Sunday 8th April but the organisers are still struggling to get pitches.
u10 – Training resumes wed 11th April in Arus. Skipathon is taking place at that training 7-8pm, if you have not handed in collection card, please do so that evening.
Coaching Corner
Another great Hurling/Camogie Academy is running in the Arus this week, with over 80 players, aged 9 to 14, taking part – in spite of the weather!
A big shout out to our own young club coaches, drawn from our minor and adult hurling and camogie teams, who are working hard all week with our next generation of players: Matthew Keane, Siobhán Divilly, Eimear Kelly, Sarah Keane, Ailbhe O'Grady, Ronan McGuinness.
In addition, three coaches from our current Transition Year Work Experience Programme are developing their coaching skills further by helping out: Brian Palmer, Eoin O'Neill and Diarmuid Munroe. Delighted also to have had coaches from around the county, including county under 21 star Evan Niland and Galway's own Gerry Spelman and Michael Gallagher. A big thank you to Clodagh Cox and Joe Maguire for help with the administration, to Clem Garvey, to John Donohue and James Molloy for facilitating access to the Prairie and the Arus and finally, to all the coaches and parents who organised the kids to attend. A true club effort!
