A chairde,

As many of you are interested, at the time of writing, we are yet to hear from the County Board officially about tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final but we would ask any member interested in being entered into a draw for tickets, to call James in the office in the Arus and give your name to him 091527333. 

Things are really ramping up again with many teams back in championship action soon: All 3 adult football teams play this weekend with the seniors in league action and both Junior teams in championship action-all in the Prairie-so be sure and get down and show your support. Of course all roads lead to Croke Park this Saturday for the All Ireland Football Semi Finals this weekend. We wish both Galway teams and particularly our 6 representatives the very best of luck this weekend and we really hope the guys make it to an All Ireland Final. 

The Senior Footballers welcome All Ireland Champions Corofin to the Prairie this Friday in the next round of the league. Throw in is at 7.45pm so please come along and support the lads. 

 

The club were delighted to receive a 5000 euro grant from The Allergan International Foundation this week. Pictured at the presentation were Michael Donnellan – Manufacturing, Pat Ruddy – Dir, Plant General Manager, Paul Maguire – Exec Dir, Global VSL for the Medical Device Product Portfolio, Club Chairperson Diarmaid Ó hAodha and Club Treasurer Noel Schofield

 

The club would like to pass their condolences to hurling coach Frank Keane, his brother Pat, a former football coach with the club, and their family following the death of their mother Peggy of County Cork this week.

The club would also like to pass their condolences on to former hurler John Newman and his family following the death of his mother, Julie of County Longford.

Adult Football

Senior:

The Senior Footballers welcome All Ireland Champions Corofin to the Prairie this Friday in the next round of the league. Throw in is at 7.45pm so please come along and support the lads.

Best of luck to Sean, Ruairi, Evan and the Galway Footballers in the All Ireland semi final vs Dublin this Saturday. 

Minor

Minors could be out in championship as soon as next Wednesday depending on how the county team gets on this weekend. Keep and eye out on social media for details. 

Best of luck to Eoghan, Cathal, Aidan and the Galway minors vs Meath this Saturday in Croke Park.

Junior and Junior A

Both Junior Championships kick off this Sunday with a double header in the Prairie. The Juniors play Micheal Breathnachs at 1pm and the Junior As play Killanin at 6pm. All support welcome. 

Juvenile Football

All teams on a break this week and next as alot coaches away 

And peak holiday season.

Most teams from u9-16 will be back training next week 14th Aug.

 

All in juv football wish the galway minors with 4 SK players and Galway seniors with 3 players the very best luck in All ireland semi finals. 

Great to see 4 players for the minors play in Croker who have come through from our nursery . Credit to all the coaches and and families and to all the Directors and ex directors of juvenile football and the club over the years for all our players.  Pride of place and special mention to Paul Monroe, Norman Costelloe, Gerry Sweeney Chris Kelly  who have helped coached the minor players from 7 years of age well done and keep up the excellent work lads.

Here's to big support from SK in Galway Footballs biggest day in a few years and to silencing the Dubs and stopping the 4 in a row !

Juvenile Hurling

The August Hurling/Camogie Academy will run from Tues 21 August to Friday 24 August, 10am-2pm, for boys and girls born 2005 to 2011.

Registration is now open via Eventbrite, with payment on the morning of the camp. Registration is essential for all players to allow us to organise sufficient coaches. REgistration closes at 8pm on Friday 17 August.

U13 County Hurling Final 

Our final is on the 23rd of August in Duggan Park at 7.30pm. We play Killimor.

Please come along and support the team.  

Under 10 training resumes again. 6pm Friday in Cappagh and 6pm Monday in McGraths.

Camogie

U10s resume training shortly so keep eye out for texts.

U11s start county summer (gone now!) league shortly and start training for that this Thursday 6pm in Cappagh.

U13s were unlucky to lose out to Killimor in county championship, still three more games to go in group stage.

U16s had an enjoyable day in Bekan last Saturday at the Connacht seven a side competition. The girls performed very well reaching the division 1 semi final, Next up is a challenge against Clonakill of Westmeath on Saturday at 12. 

Juniors play Castlegar in challenge next Monday evening.

Ladies Football

u16 – Quiet week for the Girls. Many Girls still away on Vacation and for Bank Holiday weekend. Light training session took place Thurs 2nd Aug in Cappagh Park. Preparing now for Shield semifinal and U18 championship game of 10th Aug v St.Furseys.

U12- Girls football training resumes Wed 15th in Cappagh Pk. First match v Barna Mon 20th. Championship begins Mon 27th. Looking forward to seeing everyone back..and newcomers very welcome.

The SKGAA Summer Football Camp will be taking place from Monday 6th to Friday 10th August (including Bank Holiday Monday).

VENUE: Arus Bóthar na Trá.

TIMES: 9:30am to 1:30pm.

AGES: 6 to 14 year old boys and girls (must be a member of a GAA club).

COST: €50 per child / €10 per day (€80 for 2 children from the same family).

Places limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Some great results on the pitch in past week or two well done to all players and coaches.
