Abba who provided the finale to the Gaa Variety concert

St. Patrick's Gaa Club held a very enjoyable variety concert in Drangan hall on Friday night last. The hall was full to capacity as the audience enjoyed a great nights entertainment all provided by local talent.

First to perform where the Denise Moloney irish dancers,  Erin and Dawn Moroney and Mia Danaher. Then it was the pupils from Cloneen national school with their Rock around the clock dance routine.  We then had two Irish dancing groups from the Ciara Horan school of dance who danced a reel followed by Mark Fitzgerald performing the Nathan Carter number "The wagon wheel". Next it was our very own stand up comedian Marty Noonan followed by another Irish dancer Olga Maher. We then had a comedy sketch performed by Valerie boland, Paddy Moroney, Darren Boland and Aidan buckley.

Following the interval we had Irish music performed by the Strappe family Tommy, Susan and Jamie. Then we had a blast from the past as the Drangan set dancers from 25 years ago re-united and showed they hadn't lost any of their steps. Siobhan Dunne then beautifully sang "Feels like home" from "the notebook" followed by another group of dancers  who danced a single jig. Jessica Brett sung the classic Leonard Cohen hit "Hallelujah" accompanied by Paul Gayson on guitar followed by the Horan sisters Ciara and Aoife who irish danced. The last act of the evening was the highlight of the night as ABBA made a surprise appearence in Drangan performing their smash hits "Waterloo" and "Mama mia". Well done to Colm Dunne, William O'Brien, Breda Dunne and Tina O'Dwyer on their spendid performance.

After the show club chairperson Nicholas Moroney  thanked everyone  who took part and especially thanked the organisers Ann Clancy, Mary Mahoney & Co.  He thanked Brendan Morrissey for been  the "fear an ti" for the evening and Eric Wilson for providing the sound equipment.
