St. Patrick’s Ladies GAA Club notes w/c 21st May 2018

November 7, 2018

Under 6, 8 and 10’s
Training continues every Monday evening at 7pm in Drangan field.

Under 12’s
St. Patrick's Under 12 girls travelled to Cahir on Friday evening past to play Cahir in the next round of the Under 12 Championship. We had a strong team of 14 girls on the field this evening but Cahir had the advantage from the off. Cahir were on point with their scoring and had scored a few goals before we got off the mark with a great point from Emily Fox. Throughout the second half we battled on against a very strong Cahir side, we tried to keep their scoring down and gained 2 more points for our side from Sarah Boland and Faye Noonan. Cahir came out strong winners at the final whistle but our girls lost nothing in heart and determination.
Team on the day: Sarah Boland (c), Laura Butler, Anna O'Dwyer, Lucy O'Brien, Sarah Grace, Lucy Power, Ailise Fitzgerald, Maria Kerwick, Orlaith McGrath, Emily Fox, Ella Corbett, Faye Noonan, Ailish Ryan, Ami O' Brien and Erin Moroney(injured).

Under 14’s
Our under 14 team played a challenge match against Clonmel Commercials last Thursday evening and it was a good competitive match for both teams.

Junior Ladies
Our Junior Ladies took on Moyne Templetuohy last Thursday evening in the Division Three League semi final, having had two wins and a draw in their League campaign to date. It took the St. Patrick’s Ladies a while to settle into the game, with the pace of the game been played at a high tempo for the first quarter. Úna O'Brien got St. Patrick’s on the scoreboard with a free kick that bounced high and over the bar, this was quickly followed up by a well worked passage of play, resulting in Niamh Keane getting a great goal. St. Patrick’s then settled into the game, notching on three further points by Niamh Keane and Eabha Hogan. However, Moyne Templetuohy hit the back of the St. Patrick’s net just before the half time whistle to leave the half time score: St. Patrick’s 1.4 Moyne Templetuohy 2.5. The St. Patrick’s girls worked trojanly throughout the second half, with the defenders and midfielders under long periods of pressure & scores very difficult to come by. St. Patrick’s had several goal opportunities in the second half but luck was not on our side, with the crossbar in the way and a number going marginally wide. Final score: St. Patrick’s 1.6 Moyne Templetuohy 2.13. The Patrick’s girls and team management whilst disappointed at the final result, can take a lot from the game, in that they never gave up and worked hard to the final whistle. They will have learnt a lot from the experience playing against Moyne Templetuohy who have played two divisions higher for the past number of years. St. Patrick’s will now regroup and focus now will turn to training and competing in the Junior B championship, which will commence in the coming weeks.
Team: Dearbhla Morrissey, Erin O Brien, Sarah Walton, Eadaoin Wilson, Ciara Fitzgerald, Maria McGrath (c), Gráinne Fennelly, Sarah Mockler, Aileen Kelly, Úna O’Brien (0.1), Aoife Doheny, Leanne Murphy, Eabha Hogan (0.2), Niamh Keane (1.2), Eimear Boland, Sadhbh Morrissey, Aileen Sugrue, Orlaith O'Hanlon (0.1), Siobhán Vaughan, Emily Ruttle, Aine Ryan, Chloe Griffin.

Well done
Well done to all our players who have been in recent action with their respective secondary schools. Firstly, we had huge representation on  Presentation Secondary School Ballingarry team that got beaten the in the Senior D Munster final last Tuesday, by Pobalscoil na Trionóide Youghal. Also, last Tuesday the girls playing with Scoil Ruain Secondary School gave a great account of themselves getting to the county under 14 post primary schools blitz final in Rockwell, missing out to Templemore. Finally, many congratulations to our under 16 player Sadhbh Morrissey and her Patrician Presentation Secondary School Fethard teammates on their Junior Munster Schools Final win last Friday.

Congratulations
Congratulations to all our juvenile players who made their First Holy Communion recently and best wishes to all the pupils of Drangan and Cloneen National Schools who will make their Confirmation this Thursday.
