St. Patrick’s Ladies GAA Club Notes w/c 30th July 2018

November 7, 2018

Under 11’s
Commiserations to our under 11 girls who battled bravely in the rain last Thursday  evening against Cahir in the under 11 Summer League. Despite their best efforts and some heroic defending they finished second best on this occasion. St Patrick's were very much in the game throughout and made Cahir work extremely hard for their scores. However we failed to turn our possession into scores.
Our last group game is a home fixture vs Ardfinnan due to be played before 8th August.

Under 14’s
Our under 14 girls had their first home game of the summer league against Boherlahan last Monday evening. All the hard work on the training ground is paying off as the girls put in another excellent team performance. The forwards got into the pace of the game early and put up a good score, midfield worked hard and covered alot of ground, the backs defended really well and limited the scores conceded and goalkeepers were very steady and delivered great kickouts.
Final match of the group stage is against Aherlow on Tuesday 31st July in Anner Park.
Team on the day: Laura Butler, Anna O’Dwyer, Orlaith McGrath, Gemma Gahan, Clodagh Horan, Claire O’Brien, Laura Murphy, Katie Power, Mary Ann Fitzgerald, Izzy Maher, Olga Maher, Keelin Ryan, Karol Ryan, Mia O’Dwyer, Clodagh Foley, Faye Noonan, Sarah Byrne, Erin Moroney and Ailish Ryan.

Under 17’s
Our under 17 girls headed to Ballycahill last Friday evening to play their second round league game vs Holycross Lgfa. Holycross only had 11 players for most of the game, so St. Patrick’s matched their numbers. The game was played in very wet conditions, which meant underfoot conditions were slippy and ball handling difficult. It was a good game of football throughout despite the conditions, with Holycross going in at the half time mark leading by 4 points. Half time score: St Patrick’s 0.6 Holycross 2.4. Holycross continued to add to their lead with a goal and several points and at one stage went 10 points ahead but St. Patrick’s dug deep, with Jess Strappe, Eimear Boland and Eabha Hogan registering three well taken goals and reduced the deficit to 4 points. However, Holycross finished out the stronger getting two further goals in the closing minutes and ran out comfortable winners. Final score: St. Patrick’s 3.8 Holycross 5.11.
Team: Eimear Boland (1.0), Katie McCormack, Aine Ryan, Ciara Fitzgerald, Aisling Boland, Eabha Hogan (1.3), Leanne Murphy (0.1) (c), Jessica Strappe (1.4), Eabha Fitzgerald, Sadhbh Morrissey, Ciara Butler, Erin O Brien, Siobhán O'hanlon and Robyn Horan.
Next game is an away game vs Clonmel Og/Ballyporeen scheduled for Friday 3rd August at 6.30pm in Clonmel.
