St. Patrick's players play for Tipperary in the Under 15 hurling munster championships.

November 7, 2018

Cathal Mahoney, Conor Clancy and Aidan Buckley.

Well done to the three St.Patrick’s players who took part in the munster under 15 hurling championships played last weekend.
In Liam McCartey park in Ballygarvan, Co. Cork Conor Clancy was a member of the Tipperary ‘A’ team which took part in the ‘A’ Munster under 15 hurling championship. In a round robin series of games Tipp were beaten by cork in the first game but then went on to beat Clare and Limerick to qualify for the final. Playing Cork again in the final Tipp turn the tables on cork and won the game on a scoreline of Tipperary 0-15  Cork 1-6. Conor played at wing back and centre field.
In Clarecastle County Clare,  Aidan Buckley and Cathal Mahoney were members of the Tipperary ‘B’ team which competed in the ‘B’ under 15 hurling championship. Aidan lined out at centre forward and cathal at wing forward. Aidan had the added honour of being  captain of the tipperary team and I stand to be corrected but is Aidan Buckley the first St.Patrick’s player to captain a Tipperary hurling team???  Having beaten Kerry and Limerick in the opening games, Tipp reached the final in which they played old rivals Cork. After a very close game it was cork who took victory after scoring a point from a 65 in the last minute to win the game 1-7 to 1-6.
It’s a great honour for our small Juvenile Gaa club to see some of our most promising players representing their County and wearing the blue and gold jersey.
So well done to the lads ye can be very proud of yourselves.
