On saturday last our under 13 hurlers took part in the finals of the county under 13 hurling tournament. St. Pat’s played Clerihan in the semi-final and after a well fought game St. Pat’s won the game by 4 points. Golden defeated Gortnahoe in the other semi-final so it was a St. Pats verses Golden final. Our lads started well and had the better of exchanges in the first-half and were 3 points in front at half-time. Golden fought back in the second half and after 5 unanswered points were 2 points ahead before Jamie Broderick drilled a  20 metre free to the back of the net for St. Pat’s. Another point for golden left the sides level as the ref blew full-time. St. Patrick’s 2-6  Golden 2-6. Extra time of 10 minutes had to be played and unfortunately it was golden who finished the stronger and won by 4 points in the end. Overall our lads played very well and can look forward to next years under 14 championship with greater confidence.

On sunday our under 12’s took part in the Jeffery Croke hurling tournament in Ballingarry. They played Clonea power and Ballingarry. We thank the Ballingarry club for inviting us to their tournament and all players received medals and refreshments. A special word of thanks to our under 10 players Cathal Foley, Aidan Fitzgerald and Jack Cuddihy who came to help us out as a number of our under 12’s were unavailable on the day.
