Suncroft GFC Underage News

Under 8’s took part in blitz on Saturday in Monasterevin GFC grounds. The weather was great and Suncroft under 8’s put up a great display. All the kids had a good time. Many thanks to all the mentors who helped out and all the parents for their support. Under 8 league starts next Saturday away to Castledermot.

 

Under 10A’s win a thriller in Kilcullen with last kick of the game. 

Suncroft won a game that went right to the wire in Kilcullen. Suncroft lead 3-4 to 2-2 at half time but Kilcullen got on top in the second half and were looking likely winners when going into 4 point lead, until two late goals by David Sutton secured a two point win in a most exciting game. For Suncroft, Aaron Sinnott, Larry Kelly and Bryan Reid were on top in defence with Stephen Crowley commanding midfield. Shane Ryan had a night to remember scoring 3-1 from play. Nicole Dooley done well in the forwards as did Adam McInerney when he came on as a sub. Under10A’s are at home on Thursday night in a top of the table battle against Athy.

 

Under10B’s league is over and next phase will resume after Feile competition .

 

Under12’s got back on track with a good win over St. Laurence’s at home on Tuesday night. by a score of  5-10 to 4-9. Suncroft started the game brightly with an early point by Owen Lawless. The Croft hit the cross bar and post before Laurence’s scored three good points from Eoin O’Neill (2) and one from Darragh Miley. The Croft responded with goals from Owen Lawless and Christian Phillips. Points from Eoin Troy , Nathan O’ Rourke and Stephen Ryan increased Suncroft’s lead before Luke Kearnes replied with a goal for Laurence’s. Suncroft got off to a great start for the second half with goals from Owen Lawless and Chris Phillips. Both teams went score for score until points from Darragh Nolan and Dylan McDonald sealed the win for Suncroft. Outstanding for Suncroft were Owen Lawless, Corey Stynes, Owen Troy, Eoghan Brannock and Chris Phillips.  

 

Next game for Under 12’s is away to Eadestown on Tuesday night.
