Kilcommon 2—08  v  The Neale 1—12

The Neale got there league campaign off to a great start with a terrific win away to Kilcommon last Sunday. The Neale were very shaky in the first half and gave away two very poor goals. However points from Simon Ryan(3,1 free), Paddy Hopkins(1,free) and Eoin Hughes kept them in the game and left the half time score Kilcommon 2—04 the Neale 0—05.

It was a different Neale team in the second half and they completely dominated matters. Paddy Hopkins added 1—03(1free) to his first half tally with Simon Ryan pitching in with 0—02(1free). The Neale’s other second half points were scored by Eoin Hughes and Steven Lydon. The final score was The Neale 1—12 to Kilcommon 2—08. For the record all of Kilcommon’s points came from frees. On the day best for the Neale were Pat Casey,David Morrin and John Heskin in defence, with Mike Fleming, Paddy Hopkins, Steven Lydon and Neil Varley when introduced.
