The Neave V Parke

PARKE 1—14    V    THE NEALE 0—06

The Neale put up a very poor show in Parke last Saturday evening. They started brightly and Paddy Hopkins opened there account inside the first minute from a pointed free after Mike fleming was fouled. Parke levelled soon after and but for a good save from Keith Hennelly they would have been further ahead. Simon Ryan from a free restored the Neale’s advantage and Hopkin’s with an excellent point put them 0—03 to 0—01 ahead after ten minutes. Parke’s midfielder Simon Cloherty scored three points on the bounce to leave them a point clear with ten first half remaining. Paddy Hopkin’s was playing well at this stage and two pointed frees put the Neale a point ahead as half time was approaching. However three unanswered points from Parke left the half time score Parke 0—08 the Neale 0—5.

A mix-up in the Neale’s defence allowed Parke in for a poor goal at the start of the second half and they quickly added two points to leave them 1—10 to 0—05 ahead. The Neale introduced David Morrin and he quickly scored a good point to reduce the lead, however they were not to score for the remainder of the half. The Neale also introduced Neil Varley and Daragh Walsh in the second half. Even though the Neale conceded 1—14 there defence played well put were under a lot of pressure on the night.

Subs used; David Morrin (0—01) for Paul Killeen, Neil Varley for Simon Ryan injured and Daragh Walsh for Peter Cosgrave.
