Trainer re-appointed, Mick heads for Kosovo and the Ballyboden/St Endas connection

Trainer re-appointed for 2010

The club recently re-appointed Seamus McClean as Trainer of the Intermediate team for 2010. After unluckily losing in the quarter final of the Championship by a single point, the belief in the club is that the team is good enough to challenge strongly for League and Championship honours in 2010 and it is important to maintain stability and continuity in order to reap the benefits of the solid foundations laid in 2009. We wish Seamus, the selectors and players the best of luck for the coming year.

Best wishes to Mick in Kosovo

Clonmore GFC would like to send good wishes to Mick Murray who departed last Thursday for a tour of duty with the Irish peace keeping mission in Kosovo. Mick has been Trainer of our very successful Minor and U-16 teams going back over a number of years. Thanks for all your efforts with the Minors in 2009, Mick, and hope everything goes well for you in the Balkans.

The Ballyboden/ St Endas connection

There was a Clonmore connection with the Ballyboden/St Endas team which won the Dublin Senior Football Final on Sunday last as Dara Nelson, who lined out at half back, is grandson of former Clonmore player of the 1940s, John Nelson, from Furlong’s Lane, Ballyconnell. Dara who is still only 19, was on the Dublin minor team last year and was “Man of the Match” in the C’ship semi-final. Obviously a very promising player and one to watch in the Leinster Club Championship ! Congratulations to John and Dara.
