19-6-14: U-14 Div 1 A – Clonmore 8-06 Ml Davitts 1-12
The U-14s warmed up for their trip to Mayo for the Feile on 28/29 June with a big win over Ml Davitts in Woodside last week.
Contrary to the score line, this was a very competitive match between 2 evenly matched sides with some top quality football.
The visitors started the brighter, kicking 3pts in a row before Clonmore answered with a goal from Dylan Doyle. Again Ml Davitts hit 3pts only for the home side to respond and level the match with a goal from Jake Hickey.
Scores from Jordan Tallon (1-1) Eoin Byrne (0-2) and Dylan Doyle (0-1) put Clonmore in command. Ml Davitts finished the 1st half with another 2pts to leave a half time score of Clonmore 3-4 Ml Davitts 0-8.
The away side again started the stronger with 2 quick points to narrow the gap to just 3pts.
Clonmore hit back with a goal from Jordan Tallon only for Ml Davitts to find the net for the first time and keep just 3 between the two sides. Both sides kicked a point each before a Clonmore blitz in the last 10min saw Eoin Byrne bag 3-1, and a late goal from Billy Lawlor seal a hard fought victory. The away side continued to battle and finished the scoring for the evening with a late point.
